2. What would happen? God knows...but I don't think this scenario is impossible......he is clearly capable of this, if he loses the election, or fears he will. I am not reassured by the constitutional scholars here at DU who accuse us of paranoia every time the subject comes up. A man who calls himself "The Chosen One" is quite capable of deciding for himself what the "national will" is, and to hell with elections. If something like this seems even plausible come November, 2020...who knows what will happen. How will the GOP establishment react? The Supreme Court? The military? The media? People in the street? It failed ~60%-~40%. YuiYogi's whining aside, it was a very bad idea. It would have allowed cities to impose rent control on people renting out just one home, or a backyard cottage, or even a room in their home.

I ran across a great thread at the DUmp the other day on the guys in NY building micro apartments.  A positive laugh riot if I must say so myself, and I must since I didn't mark the link.  All I could think of was an old Seinfeld episode.  Democratics attempting to solve housing problems anywhere is the set up to a punch line IMHO.

What both Loony-Progs and less insane Dems alike don't want to understand is that government @#$%ing around in the housing marketplace, whether rent control or anti-growth regs or enviro-regs or milk-the-developer fees or overlapping permitting processes or ... combine to create housing shortages and skyrocketing rents and house/condo prices. Measures like loft conversions (re-purposing old unused industrial buildings) or dorm-like set-ups or micro-apartments are not so much innovations as ways to bypass some of the bureaucratic crap that burdens and inhibits the building of housing.

Government is the problem, and getting government out of the way will be the solution, if a solution ever happens.
