Another FNG bouncy- queer turns down chik-fil-a feast

Interesting day at work today.... (chik-fil-a)
(I work in an office for a major organization)

So today I come into work and see my supervisor standing next to a coworker of mine. As soon as I sit down at my desk, the two of them engage in a conversation within 5 feet from me that starts off with my supervisor saying "So, today we are going to pick up some chik-fil-a. We'll get it for lunch."

Then my coworker turns to me and says "Hey, want some chik-fil-a?" I tell her I'll pass.

About 4 hours later the chik-fil-(a massive amount) is in the lunch room. The same coworker from earlier walks by and says "Hey, sure you don't want some chik-fil-a?" Again, I tell her I'll pass.

Then at the end of the day, I am leaving the building. Same coworker is leaving with a bag of chik-fil-a (apparently they were not able to devour the ridiculous amount of food they purchased earlier), and as I am walking out the door she says "You should have tried some of this chik-fil-a. It would be good for you."

It is known to people at work that I am in a same-sex relationship. Part of me wondered if this was an attempt to create a hostile work environment, or if she was actually completely oblivious to what she was doing.

I have never had any problems at work before, so I am leaning towards "completely oblivious".... but it was very borderline. However, I am sure it was not a coincidence that my coworker and supervisor suddenly decided to get chik-fil-a today.... and I didn't observe them asking anyone else if they wanted some.

How is offering some chicken a dig at her queerness. Would she have accepted if the food was from Red Lobster?

...with the exception of a side salad with fat free dressing or a Veggie Delite from Subway, which is to say not at all.

So, you had two valid reasons to pass it up, right?

As for the office employees, if they haven't said or done anything suspect before, I'd assume their intentions were good and they were just offering you free food. I'd recommend not worrying about them at this stage, though I understand why you'd be scratching your head.

Look at all of the office meals you're passing up by not having a job.

probably tread lightly see if your Human Resource person is more or less inclined to help. If s/he is inclined let them know what your concerns are. If not then I am guessing you have a 1-800 number to report to. At the very least this will be documented.

They were at the feast.

What would you tell em anyway? "My coworkers ate Chicken in front of me knowing I'm a queer."

Your supervisor has let you know what he really thinks of you. This will not end well for you if you stay.
Find another job if you can.

Is she kidding right now? She doesn't know hostile work environment and I work somewhere where it's damn near impossible to fire a bigot of the darker hued persuasion no matter how blatantly over the top their behavior is towards others.


BTW, while this one was so intense on the idea that someone was trying to be hostile towards her did she ever consider for a second that the coworker who offered several times food both knew of the fact she was gay and about why Chik Fil A had the support they did today and this was more an awkward way of trying to be apologetic towards her coworker(not that she owed her any apology but some people are OVER senstitive to the feelings of others when there is no reason to cater to someone who thinks being offered food is a hostile gesture, but some people are like that and coddle the ridiculous unjustified emotions of others.)
