Don Rickles' racial joke about President Obama...
Don Rickles told a racial joke Thursday night at the American Film Institute’s tribute to Shirley MacLaine that may have been more appropriate half a century ago at the Friar's Club. This time, though, the object of Rickles' mockery wasn't Sammy Davis Jr. -- but the first African-American President of the United States.

"I shouldn’t make fun of the blacks," Rickles, 86, said according to The Hollywood Reporter. "President Obama is a personal friend of mine. He was over to the house yesterday, but the mop broke."

Like many comedians of his generation, Rickles' act has long included racial humor that would be considered unacceptable to today's audiences. But as race relations evolved, it became rarer and rarer for comedians like Rickles to include such jokes in their act.

This was not the first times Rickles did material about Obama that made audiences squeamish. Right after Obama was elected in 2008, Rickles went on "Late Show with David Letterman" to try out some jokes about Obama playing basketball in the White House during a national emergency. The studio audience was audibly uncomfortable with the racial implications.

It caught me off guard and I laughed.

I don't know what was funnier though. The joke or my mental image of a DUmmy jumping up and down throwing a hissy fit.

I thought he'd been dead for years.

I didn't read the post (no offense--the title said it all) because I find any 'comedian' who once described his wife as, "an ice cube with a hole in it" despicable. With 'humor' of that kind, I'm not surprised he'd stoop to make a racial joke. What a piece of crap.

Is there no end to what offends DU'ers? I guess being "The First Black President of the United States" puts you out of the reach of comics everywhere...

DU defends Bill Maher for calling Sarah Palin a **** because well, he's a comedian, but a totally over-the-hill comedian causes DU outrage for mentioning Barack Obama and mop in the same sentence.

Exactly. DUmmies are one of the most singularly humor-free groups of people in the world. They have no sense of humor about themselves at all, because they they take themselves, their ideas and their pronouncements so seriously. They hold themselves and their icons as sacred and untouchable.

The only thing they do find funny is their own adolescent, simpleminded bathroom-humor attacks on their enemies. Ever look at their so-called "DUzys" or Lord Marblehead's responses to "Hate Mail"? It's nothing but mundane snark, but DUmmies yuk it up and H5 each other over it like it's the most clever thing since Oscar Wilde.

I dare anyone normal to watch Don Rickles' clips online and not die laughing. His expressions immediately after he delivers a seeming compliment are priceless (when he uses his face to undercut what he's just said)--he's a master of that technique.

OK, I think I have finally figured this out------Sort of.

Don Rickles is from the old time age that ridicules those of come from the race's that put him and his religion down.   He is the first to yell the Emperor has no Clothes.

Jews as we know have a choice, they can cry and feel sorry for themselves for their history as do some not to be mentioned races rant after a few hundred years of freedom.   [ funny you see few 70-90 year old Jews still in Germany expecting the Government to feed, shelter and care for the decedents of the Hollicost who  expect birth to death care from the Government that less then 70 years ago wiped out their Ancestors. ]

So The Jews the bottom ring on the ladder of humanity at one time choose to Laugh and make fun of those that  called them sub human.   They strive for education, wealth and to leave the haters in the dust.

Must be a wonderful HIGH to be the Bullied at school by kids from wealthy family's, work your ass off and find the Bully's in later life are now on their knees begging you for a job.  It is human nature to succeed and now make fun of those that felt you were beneath you.

I go for Don Rickles as he can say things that are true, funny, as all races can connect to what he is making fun of.  Most Irish, Pollocks, French, Italians can laugh at our folly's and history.

It is when a race or religion gets so full of themselves that they have no humor about themselves that they Yell and demand respect that they do not deserve.

Reminds me of a story from the back woods about two men that got into an argument.   One says  " your wife is a slut", the other responds that his wife is fat and drunk and he at least has plenty of money coming in because of his wife.  First one then asks if there is any way to trade wives .
