Before hijacked Boeing 757s and 767s crashed into the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and field near Shanksville on September 11, 2001, there was another psychopath who wanted to hijack an airplane and crash it into the White House in 1974. His name is Samuel Byck. He was a man struggling and a ticking time bomb, who made his living selling tires. Byck was a very delusional and paranoid man. He sent weird taped messages to people like Jonas Salk and Leonard Bernstein.
Byck saw the political system as corrupt and started venting his anger at President Ricard Nixon. He threatened President Nixon starting in 1972. He even protested in front of the White House on Christmas Eve of 1973, dressed in a Santa Clause costume. Then Byck hatches a plan to hijack an airplane and crash it into the White House. He attempts to hijack a Delta Airlines airplane bound for Atlanta in Baltimore-Washington International Airport. He ordered the pilots to take off, but the airplane was not ready to take off. So he shoots both pilots and one of them dies. The police are dispatched and they shoot Byck. Samuel Byck then turns the gun on himself and dies after realizing his plans failed and could be tried and executed for his crime. It was also discovered he also had a gasoline bomb, which probably would of used in his crime.
