and they don't see the irony of scolding straight people for their preferred dating choices when they are the ones who have been lecturing everyone else for decades to stop judging them for who they chose to date and sleep with....
I'm going to keep saying this until people believe me:
It isn't about consistency of message. It's not about principles.
IT'S ABOUT POWER
There is a reason why they can scold you for what you do while they do the exact same thing.
It isn't hypocrisy.
It's about trying to detach you from your values while asserting their own.
The subtext ought to be clear: "We can do whatever we want, but anything you do is wrong - even if you do the exact same thing as us."
Why?
POWER
All of this is about who gets the power to set the course of society.
It couldn't be more obvious, but everyone treats it as a case of lack of self-awareness. It isn't. It's deliberate. Very deliberate. That's why they are so angry about their words being used against them. They know how this makes them look and if it's allowed take hold it undermines their power.
