Title: What if the speed of light were limitless?
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on May 09, 2021, 04:10:18 PM
Numerous experiments have pegged the speed of light at 299,792,458 meters a second in a vacuum.

I'll avoid the discussion of relativity for the moment but if the speed of light were limitless/infinite physics as we know it would cease to exist.

Inverting E = mc^2 tells us mass would not be able to exist because energy would be infinite, leaving no place for mass to exist.

It would be infinitely bright as all points of light would be immediately perceived without interruption.

Information would be similarly omnipresent.

Matter is measured in dimensional space. Energy is measured in time but those are interdependent. Without mass, Time would cease to be measurable.

If you were to describe a place of infinite brightness, where all knowledge is instantly perceived, time does not exist in conventional terms, and any existence that might exist must do so in a massless state - one might be forgiven if an ancient mind was tempted to conclude this could be the residence of angels or other beings considered "spiritual."

I'm not saying it is, but - goddam it's fun to stare at the ceiling thinking about it.

Snugs, you're starting to scare the hell out of me.

It's about whether we go insane.

It's about whether we enjoy the journey. 🤗

Sounds like an 'irresistible force' and an 'immovable object' can't exist in the same universe.

I know when you click-on a giegercounter, you're listening to colliding particles set-in-motion by The Big Bang.
