Rockefeller wants to help poor buy gas

Rockefeller's program would be subject to the annual appropriation process with an initial authorization of $2 billion a year.

The revenue could be offset through a windfall profits tax or a rollback of the tax cuts on the top 1 percent wage earners, Rockefeller said.

He said his plan is more economically feasible than the proposed gas tax holiday, which was originally proposed by U.S. Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential frontrunner. McCain's proposal would cost $9 billion.

Rockefeller also called on Congress to increase fuel efficiency standards (didn't they just do this? :whatever:), suspend deposits into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and impose a tax on windfall gas profits (more taxes, yay).

He also supports oil and gas exploration in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, which could add 1.26 billion new barrels of oil to the domestic supply, according to his office.

But Rockefeller still opposes drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which he fears would be expensive and possibly damaging to the environment.

If your baby's first words are "windfall profits" and "tax", you probably gave birth to a Democrat.  Congratulations.
If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.

Nice of that jerk to propose new drilling in the Gulf of Mexico but what are those dumb dums doing to increase production in his neck of the woods. Oh, that's right Kennedy does not like those windmills 20 plus miles offshore when he's sailing his humphy dumphy @ss around.
