"Gone With The Wind" on TCM ...
« on: March 04, 2021, 07:17:39 PM »
AM about to again watch this old Classic movie, regardless of "Cancel Culture"  or whatever, these days ...

To me, it was one of Hollywood's best old films produced, much like "The Wizard Of Oz". All before I was old enough to see or appreciate them.

Just curious to know for those who have seen it;  what's *your* opinion?

Read the book as a kid, enjoyed the book immensely. Then saw the movie. For the time, it was a classic and still is. Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh (a Brit, curiously enough), Olivia de Havilland, and talk about something completely unheard of, especially back then:

The Oscar for Best Supporting Actress went to Hattie McDaniel in her role as Mammy. First time a black person won an Oscar, IIRC.

Stick THAT one in your pipe and smoke it, proglodytes with your cancel culture crap!

Watched it during supper.

Can't help but think of the predictions/calls to civil war. This is "only" a movie, it will be worse.

While you are correct, Rick, this was "only" a movie & civil war in our time would be too unbearable  for me to think about again in our country ...

And even though the movie was overly long, and somewhat dramatic in parts;  it was still an underlying touching story of the characters involved.

Plus, believe it or not, the ending between Rhett and Scarlett once again brought a tear to my eyes.  *blush*
