I used to be an independent, because the differences between Republicans and Democrats didn't seem to make it worth registering for one pary over the other, though, I registered Republican last year, so that I would be able to help bring in the 2010 Tea Party, as well as be able to vote for Ron Paul a couple of months ago.

I think that I'll remain a Republican for some time.. but then again, you never know what the future holds.

(My mother, older brother and oldest, younger sister are all Republicans as well. My mothers father wanted it to be Rick Santorum. Not sure whom my mothers mother had in mind, though. My mother voted for Ron Paul, after being apart of the bible-belt of the Republican Party for nearly all of her adult life. There is a strong Republican presence in my immediate family.)

I just thought I would help you out. I am a registered independent (Although this year I breafly registered as a Republican so I can vote in the primaries). I don't agree with everything the Republicans do, and I don't agree with everything the Democrats do. Although, I do agree with some things on both sides. I like to take bits and peaces from each side and marry them, so to speak.
