Anyone have a synopsis handy?  I scheduled a fantasy football draft during the speech. :evillaugh:

Plus, I put U.S. Open tennis on in the background.  I figured the big 0 would somehow screw up my team if I had him on TV.

He bombed...........then blamed Boosh ....the bombed..............then envoked Ted "Swimmer" Kennedy............then bombed.............then somehow sounded like a President.............

What about passive aggressive sex?  :p

I also missed most of the speech being at the football draft too, lol. Saw the last 10 minutes and the R's response. meh. nothing new there.

I missed something today but it was not the speech. SsOK. The wine makes it all better.  :-)

Anyone know much about the Republican doctor who gave the response? I thought he was well above below average.

I can not see any democratic senator in my state of Florida voting for this....there are way too many old people who vote in this state who will hold them accountable.

Hi,

I think you better check again.  I have been hammering Nelson and he has not moved one bit, voted 100% on every Obama issue so far.  He voted for the stimulus package and then was stupid enough to immediately say in an interview that 90% of the people who contacted his office were opposed to it.

Look at his website, large photo of him and BO.  Better start emailing him daily because he is going to do what he is told despite what the public wants.

The CU fantasy football draft went as those things always go (mixed results winsome losesome)

The speech, what I heard of it, was broilerplate but Drudge has a funny headline.  :-)

Oh there were just random utterances in this thread. But, I seriously thought it was a disaster all in all and there are really no do-overs at this time. I also think he lost his loony left base.... this pleases me! He punched a few times below the belt and I came away thinking this guy is truly the most divisive man to ever occupy the office. Good Lord, Clinton had so much more finesse.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

One thing that struck me was how he said his plan wouldn't add a single dime to the deficit...

...just 900 billion in costs...

...which will be paid for in savings...

...taken from Medicare...

...but he won't cut Medicare...

...just wasteful spending.

Um-m-m...if you could control wasteful government spending you would be pointing to Medicare as a sucess story not as a drain on the system hoping to cover the costs of a massive system expansion.

I know I tend to find sub-text in a lot of things but I hope the average American picked-up on that.

Yeah, $900 billion is less than what WE are spending in Iraq and Afghanistan. Who is this WE? The same WE that wanted us out of Iraq and Afghanistan?  And we are still there?  hmmmmffff.
