Michelle Malkin has "Electile Dysfunction" and it's contagious. :o :(
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/01/28/state-of-the-grab-bag-adress-2008/
The White House sends along this handy online guide to all the spending initiatives to be unveiled today. On top of stimulation-palooza, we’ll hear about:
“Supporting A Compassionate Foreign Policy: President Bush believes freedom can only be advanced if the United States does its part to eliminate the hunger, disease, poverty, and illiteracy that creates despair and allows violent extremism to take root.
:bs:
He will reaffirm the United States’ commitment to work with the other major economies and through the UN toward an international agreement on climate change that can slow, stop, and then reverse the growth of greenhouse gas emissions through actions by every major economy.
:bs:
Ugh... just hit the link to see some of the other things Michelle outlines. It's to depressing to do so here.
However, I got a smidgen of hope from Malkin's WH link so there will be fractional good news to go along with the avolanch of bull**** spending promises.
Eliminating Wasteful Federal Spending: President Bush will issue a pledge to veto any appropriations bill Congress sends him that does not cut the number and cost of earmarks in half. He will also issue an Executive Order on Tuesday, January 29, directing Federal agencies to ignore any future earmark that is not voted on by Congress.
That's not nothing. But it's close. ::)

I got a kick out of that because it will drive the libs nuts. The only problem I have with President Bush is that every time he opens his mouth, I know it's going to cost money.

Yeah, I like that too. However, speaking of being driven nuts... did you check out the bottom of the link? Hint: the Dems special invitation of a media gallery seat to Al Jazeera. :banghead: WTF?
-
my husband is all jazzed to hear the SOTU speech tonight.. he keeps walking in here where i am and giving me 'how many minutes are left til it comes on??" question.
i think he is making popcorn to sit and watch it..

I was jazzed till the MM article. Now I'm depressed. LOL
Well, it's on so I guess I'll watch it and just enjoy all the liberals snarling and occasional clapping and forced smiles. Bush still drives em crazy and I'll always love that about him! (if little else, lol)
-
he's supposed to say something nice about nancy pelosi. :whatever:
I hope it doesn't hurt.
-
I'm going to have to find a better channel to watch this on. I'm already tired of Jim Lehrer's stammering.

I'm not implying that Nancy is a cult leader, but it would certainly be an improvement over her usual policies and legislation.

yeah, they are big buddies since the BarackStar traded teddy a gallon of rot gut for his endorsement.

Dang. PBS has better audio of the audience than Fox News. Looks like I'm stuck with Baggy-Eyed Jim.

i dunno about guests, but some dude down front was just reading his mail while the President was talking.
-
Rush was making a joke this morning, while waiting for Teddy's speech .. he said something to the affect of, "yeah, its better if Edward Kennedy does his talking first thing in the morning.. not after noon .. or certainly .. eveings."
man, Nancy looks like she's about to cry! what is she looking at?

My few remaining recommendations all relate to a basic right of our citizens--that of being represented in the decisions of the government.
I hope that the States will cooperate with the Congress in adopting uniform standards in their voting laws that will make it possible for our citizens in the armed forces overseas to vote.
In the District of Columbia the time is long overdue for granting national suffrage to its citizens and also applying the principle of local self-government to the Nation's Capital. I urge the Congress to move promptly in this direction and also to revise District revenue measures to provide needed public works improvements.
The people of Hawaii are ready for statehood. I renew my request for this legislation in order that Hawaii may elect its State officials and its representatives in Washington along with the rest of the country this fall.
For years our citizens between the ages of 18 and 21 have, in time of peril, been summoned to fight for America. They should participate in the political process that produces this fateful summons. I urge Congress to propose to the States a constitutional amendment permitting citizens to vote when they reach the age of 18.
-President Eisenhower, January 1954.

191. Issuing another executive order....
While I agree with the premise of what he's saying, the president has no business setting how Congress conducts its business. Surely they will fight this.
ha ha ha ha ha. How is the President telling congress how to conduct business?

I know the kind of place you are referring to. the last place like that I patronized was called "Cheetah III".

he crammed the success of "no child left behind" down their throats. not my favorite piece of legislation ever, but it has had results that you never hear about.

I think she had eyeball stabilization surgery

The Media is protecting Hillary and her eye-rolling tonight. I hardly doubt she has stood up at all throughout this speech, specifically when the President discussed his support for the troops.
I'd like to see more panning to Hillary.
-
I'm gonna have to stop watching this as Nacy is starting to really piss me off
Oh shit.....he said Iran

That's interesting. I think your right too. It passed my mind awhile ago then I forgot about it. I certainly agree that Hillary needs protecting from her behavior tonight. Seems to be getting it as well.

Oh man, heads are gonna be popping all night long.

Oh man, heads are gonna be popping all night long.
I was getting ready to say the same thing

"The New American Majority"?
I hope she doesn't think she's referring to Democrats.

I did not watch any of the speech; looks like I did not miss anything :thatsright:

ah, that's right. she's famous for the tornado tragedy a couple of years ago when global warming wouldn't cooperate to generate a hurricane big enough to get to kansas.
-
what sort of "new course" on the war on terror are the dems talking about? I am constantly hearing about it, but it never actually gets explained.
-
Sort of like Pelosi's "New Direction".
They weren't real specific with that one either. :whatever:
-
whiney. very whiney. what is her point? and when did the damn depression start? did I miss it?
-
"A New American Majority"... again.
Oooh, a bunch of liberal feelgoodism. "The Common Good"... I've heard that before

they have this show in Canada with a guy named Rick Mercer.. its filmed in Toronto and they frequently go down to NYC and do the 'man on the street' questions with Americans and it is some funny stuff.
he gets people to say stupid things like "Congratulations Canada for getting indoor plumbing!"
he makes Americans look stupid, and they certainly help him out.. :-)
