Chris or anyone else who has had eye issues
« on: September 24, 2010, 02:39:11 PM »
Have you ever seen your heartbeat in your eye for a prolonged period of time?  Not see it in a mirror but see it as you are looking at something like TV or reading.   I'm not talking about your lid twitching but your actual eyeball beating along with your heartbeat. Over the last few weeks I have been having his happen very frequently. Now it is basically constant. I have told my retinal specialist twice about it over the past month and he didn't seem concerned. My last visit he actually told me to "keep an eye on it".

I still have uveitis and it wasnt very bad to start with but at my last appointment he said it hasnt gotten any better, I have a follow up appointment on Monday.  The pressure in my eyes has always been good. The last time (two weeks ago)?it was 12 in one eye and 13 in the other (I'm using pred forte *prednisone* drops which can make some people have very high pressure in their eyes), my blood pressure is always low, like really low but it feels like at times my heart beats hard (not fast just harder than normal). I also have started to have flashes every once in awhile which makes me afraid I could be having a retinal detachment or something. Also it seems like the last couple of days my uveitis has gotten worse when I thought a couple of days ago it was getting better.

I also have an appointment with a neurologist on Wednesday for my headaches. My PCP said that he will more than likely want a MRI/MRA. I wonder if the MRI or MRA can show any issue I may have with my eye?!?

Can't say I ever have.  I get the throbbing veins around the eyelids, but not much else.  I still have small flashes around the periphery of my vision... these are small pinholes tears that usually heal themselves over time (I have quite a few of them).  When my retina ripped, it looked like a rock concert.  It wasn't subtle at all.

Talk to whoever is doing the MRI about it.  They may know something.

I would also get a second opinion from another opthalmologist or retinal specialist.

Thanks for your comment. Yeah the flashes I see are in my peripheral vision in my right eye (the one I see my heartbeat in, the one that has the worst case of uveitis and the one I have had all the shots in in the past).  It's in the lower righthand corner.  I seem to have these flashes just before my uveitis finally goes away. I don't know why that is, I hope it's the same thing this time around.
