I just went through season 1 on netflix. Good stuff.
-
I didn't catch this last year, my bad! Binge watching Season 1 now as Season 2 starts tonight. Hysterical!
-
I missed the last couple of episodes. I've been slacking on my AMC programs.
I started watching 'The Knick'. I like it so far, and it's Cinemax so there is gratuitous nudity involved. :-)
-
Playing pool tonight, so it'll be on my DVR. But can't wait to watch it.
-
I dumped Walking Dead. Watched about 10minutes last night and realized just how much apathy I had. So drop one AMC show, pick up another.

What's it about?
To show how far behind I am, I just finally made it through Game of Thrones S1D4 (I can skip the 2 minute intro now) and eventually gave up on keeping up with Sons of Anarchy.
I caught some mid-season House of Cards on a flight and HAVE to binge watch it from the start now! But God knows when I will be able to do so.

I had the same reaction to Breaking Bad. I watched 4 eps (to be fair) and could not figure out the draw.

I'm thinking one would have to be a fan of Breaking Bad to enjoy Better Call Saul. Maybe not. I'll definitely be watching S2.
House of Cards is absolute greatness! I watched S3 (twelve episodes!) in one sitting the day it came out.
Game of Thrones is really good too, but can be difficult to follow. I'm currently on S5/E3.
-
Games of Thrones is decent for a TV show but if you really want to enjoy it, read the books. I never could get in to House of Cards, but then Kevin Spacey annoys me.
It took me a few episodes to get in to Breaking Bad, but it is really good.

OMG, the Hummer :rotf:

Depends on if you've seen Breaking Bad. Better call Saul is a prequel to the character "saul" from Breaking Bad. So it's a "origin" story about this ambulance chasing lawyer who's actually really smart, struggles with morality, and can't ultimately fit into the world of being a high profile trial lawyer. He's a schemer, and a talker, but he also knows his shit. After season one, it's still up in the air which way he'll go in terms of being a good guy or not, but we get a sense.......
I gave up on Sons of Anarchy after binge watching a few seasons. It got too soap opera-ish for me.......
I just binged on portlandia which turns out to be pretty hilarious.

That stupid truck is going to get that guy killed. He was dumb enough to leave Nacho alone... now he knows where he lives. Should have listened to Mike.
$50 a shot tequila. Clever.
-
Of all the random people to bring back from Breaking Bad. KENWINS. That was a thing of beauty & brilliance.
Damn. Am continually amazed at the writing, directing & cinematography. Not to mention the acting.
Highly recommended stuff. Wow.
-
I was ready to dismiss this as a filler or throwaway since it was the first episode of a new season, but Vince Gilligan continues to amaze me as one of the best writers and directors on television. I can't wait to see what happens next week.
-
Great show, I love this character.

Have mentioned this before, but am shocked at Bob Odenkirk's acting chops. He was more of a sketch/improv comic. But he has truly developed into a hell of an actor.

He has a great cast, and like Chris says he is backed up by the best. I love this show and I hope that it succeeds.

It should. The wonderful creator, Vince Gilligan, has said that he had no concrete plan on a spin off. But the direction they chose could not be better.
Better Call Saul has turned out fantastic.

"Jeeves, where's my solid-gold blimp? Not that one. The other one."
I think it's the first time someone has written a joke for her. I was wondering if she had a sense of humor at all. She was getting turned on over the idea of raking Sandpiper over the coals.

That Hummer was a sweet ride! LOL
-
I'm really enjoying this season.
-
That Hummer was a sweet ride! LOL
It was a school bus for a 6-year-old pimp.
-
I can't wait for next week's episode, I'm hooked.
-
Looks like Mike made a new enemy.
Poor Jimmy.
-
This is getting closer to 'Breaking Bad' by the episode. I wonder how long they plan to run this show.
-
Scary. This show is fiction, but you know shit like this is happening in Mexico and the southwest. That's what makes me mad when people talk about allowing unrestricted immigration from that shithole south of Texas.
The sooner those two evil bastards get run over by a brown Pontiac Aztek, the better.
-
Saw a Pontiac Aztek today. How to be hip:
1. Procure Pontiac Aztek in the appropriate color
2. Cover it with AMC/Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul stickers
3. Profit
AMC had done more to increase the resale value of a rebadged Buick Rendezvous than General Motors ever did.

A woman who lives two doors down from me has one. It's just as fugly now as when it first came out.

I saw one while I was out yesterday.

Wow. Jimmy just did a number on HHM's Mesa Verde account. :fuelfire:
-
The show has me hooked.
-
Ten episodes? Is that all or am I missing something?
Chuck managed to crack his head pretty good. :o
-
I did not even know the season was ending.
-
My recorder only has ten new episodes. I don't think there was a new one last week.
-
There was a death in the Season 2 finale of “Better Call Saul,

I'll have to recheck my TV schedule. :(

Sorry. I thought you had seen all of the episodes so far.

Anyone else keeping up with the new season? Excellent as usual thus far.

Granted Jimmy is no saint but man, Chuck is a total asshole.

Both Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul have such anti-hero protagonists, but one is compelled to root for them.
I'm curious to see what eventually happens to Chuck and Kim. Don't recall either being referenced in Breaking Bad.

Yeah true enough but given their history it's very easy to root for Jimmy.
*Season 1 Spoiler Alert*
The whole catalyst to this was Chuck foiling Jimmy at every turn and trying to keep him in the mail room after earning his law degree and passing the bar. Granted Jimmy has some shady stuff in his past but Chuck went about things in the worst way possible. Hell ge practically spits on a brother who takes care of his frail ass no matter what. I guess I like Jimmy because I know through Breaking Bad how he turns out and it's pretty easy to see what could have been.

I expect many overlapping story lines -- which, as a huge Breaking Bad fan I LOVE -- but I also expect them to keep a great deal of distance between the two shows.
I am really enjoying season three so far, despite the Chuck/Jimmy story arc.
-

I agree. Tonight's episode was awesome, as always.

Jimmy played Chuck like a fiddle in that episode.

The exposition of the back story has interesting to say the least.

Well, two episodes left in Season 3. Thoughts?

I'm loving it. I do wonder how well I would enjoy the show had I not been a huge Breaking Bad fan. Could the show stand on its own?

Good question. Probably, because it is so well done.
Those of us who watched Breaking Bad enjoy it because of the back history of Jimmy/Saul, Mike, Gus, & Hector. As I mentioned before, I'm really curious what happens to Kim & Chuck. Neither were mentioned in Breaking Bad.

I can't wait for the next season!

Season 4 kicked off a couple weeks ago. Anyone else still anxiously waiting and finally enjoying?

I tried BB but like Seinfeld ad Friends and other cultural bulwarks I just didn't get it. I had a long flight and they had 4 or 5 eps from season 2 and it was just a shoulder shrugger.
Thus my lack of interest in BCS.
But I do look in on these types of threads to see what the fascination is.

Couldn't recall everyone here who had been following the show. But thanks for the response.
Watch almost zero current TV series. Just a couple of really good ones.
Saul/Jimmy was an important yet minor character in BB. The series is a prequel that shows how he transformed himself into slimy lawyer Saul Goodman. It is really intriguing. Especially for those who watched Breaking Bad.

Yes, Mrs. Ausonius and I are big fans! The theme of how basically good people can make a series of somewhat bad choices - even with good intentions - and how those minor erroneous choices lead to making disastrously big ones, was the basis of Breaking Bad, and we see another version of it with the "Fake Jew" Saul Goodman i.e. James McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and also with Mike Ermentraut (Jonathan Banks).
Do you remember Jonathan Banks from Wise Guy in the 1980's?

Much thinner and less brutal looking back then! O-)

Did remember him from the movie "48 Hours". Almost unrecognizable from his character on BB & Better Call Saul.
Anti-heros is kinda the Hollywood buzzword. Never would have thought a comedic actor Odenkirk could do drama so wonderfully.
