I didn't expect it to be taken seriously. The fact you all still take me seriously amazes me.

Some stations are coming down just a bit, but not very fast.  Saw "discount" gas as cheap as $3.39 this morning.  Still $3.49 at Seabrook Sunoco though, and $3.50 in most places around my house.

I think back a few years when things were good ...and I calculate...

9 engines running X 12 hour days X 70 gallons per hour consumption X at least 5 days a week X 4 weeks a month X $3.00 per gallon off road diesel fuel = right at $50,000.00 a month fuel bill...oh my....I'm glad I quit when I did...the next heart attack would have been a killer for sure.

Prices have pretty much stabilized here. $3.31 lowest $3.54 highest. The highest price is off I-10 headed to MS. This is the highest split I have ever seen between high and low in Mobile county.Usually it isn't more the 15 cents. Pretty much what has happened is as the off brands go down the major brands go up, the two biggest asses being BP and Shell as usual.

AAA has the price since last week dropping 1/2 cent per gallon.  Still up 38 cents over a month ago.

How do you handle the fuel taxes? What are they in Canada btw? Had to imagine the state will forgo their due for too long, what would happen to the roads and bridges?

Biodiesel in my province at least is exempt from fuel taxes.

Fuel tax for regular gas is 15.5¢/L (58.5¢/G) and regular diesel is 15.4¢/L. All provinces are different but thats what we pay here.

However fuel also has HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) of 15% (highest in Canada) added to the cost. But I don't have to pay that either since I'm not buying it from anyone.

During the summer months I don't buy fuel and with he cost of it spending time on the weekend to make it is time well spent.

For now, maybe.  Give it a year or two.

Hmmmm...time well spent?  Let's see...I make $XX.XX per hour, times 1.5 for Saturday, carry the 1, carry the 1 again...

Nope.  Better spent filling up.  8 hours making a tank of gas that smells like french fries, or making enough to fill my tank 10 times?  Hmmmm...

Isn't true that the price heating oil goes down in the summer?? so many people I know are struggling, they put only 100 gallons at a whack in a 300 gallon tank, It seems like they run out of gas that much faster. Then they panic when they run out, especially on the weekends.(it cost more to deliver beyond office hours) though wood pellet stoves are quite popular as well. We sell the pellets at work for approx 5.20 a bag. I am not sure if these customers are using their pellet stoves as the primary heat, or supplemental however.

Without going into great detail what does your process entail and what safety standards do you follow to ensure you are not a hazard to your neighbors and the environment in the process.  What type of permitting is required.

Every time I read of someone whipping up a batch by hand I think of meth labs.  Don't know why that is but I do, maybe it is the explosions that you see in the movies.

I would love to fill the MH with tax free fuel.  Wouldn't it be lovely.    :naughty:  At eight miles to the gallon you know you have been somewhere when you stop to pump 100 gallons.   And the petite pumps for diesel cars just makes it all the worse, a mistake I try to avoid whenever possible.

I use mine as supplemental, buy pellets by the ton deliverd in the summer.  Using pellets can cause problems if you let the rest of the house cools down and heating pipes on the outside walls freeze.  I have auto delivery for oil and budget for it as best one can.  Lately it is more like playing the futures market. :argh:
