In your case, as an active duty member of the Armed Forces, you are sorely underestimating the qualifications of your overlords.

Add to that the exceedingly rare few who have managed to find a place that hasn't fired them yet for gross incompetence - dementedjeep, or whatever Pam Dawson is calling herself these days comes to mind - who will actually stay home from work, and thus improve productivity exponentially that day, and I really fail to see a down side.
