The panel noted in its letter to McCarthy earlier Wednesday, however, that the GOP leader previously acknowledged speaking with former President Trump as the attack on the Capitol was underway.

McCarthy's been electrocharged with Trump-energy the last couple days. 

But he doesn't seem angry enough to step through the mirror and nail Pelosi over her phonecalls.

And that right there is the problem with McCarthy. Trying to play both ends against the middle, positioning himself to be the next Speaker. Just another congresscritter doing what they do -- preen and thunder in front of the cameras (but not enough to shake the podium -- that would spoil the camera's focus).

Not quite a full-blown scumbag, but close.
