Title: Obama Supporters Defy the Odds
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on November 18, 2008, 09:18:14 AM
People this ignorant may as well close their eyes and poke the voting machine at random.

Quote
57.4 could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

81.8 could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

82.6 could NOT correctly say that Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

56.1 % could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing). And yet…..

Only 13.7% failed to identify Palin as the person their party spent $150,000 in clothes on

Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her “house,” even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!

What this tells me is:

A) If people are so clueless as to think the Republicans run congress they are tools fed on a daily diet rich in vitamin propaganda. All they keep hearing is, "it's the republican's fault, it's the republican's fault" and that is all they took into the voting booth. How else to explain the fact that they reflexively assigned the plagarism and terrorism charges to the GOP side?

B) IF--and this is a mighty big if--they can be adequately educated they can be incolcated with sufficient degrees of buyer's remorse.

Even so they now know their side won. There is no more putting that 9% approval rating onto the shoulders of the GOP. It will be hard for the dems to rely on this blinding degree of ignorance in 2010 and 2012.

Still, we need to educate, educate, educate our friends family and co-workers for the next 2 years.

Sadly, the majority of people seem to get their infonews from Leno/Letterman and Comedy Central.

I haven't seen it in a long time, but whenever I saw "Jaywalking" it scared the crap out of me.

Leno is still doing it, and people are still stupid.

From the original website, How Obama Got Elected (http://www.howobamagotelected.com/), "97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates."

This isn't the "great unwashed." These are people with education.

Pretty  :censored: frightening.

Other than the first one, that's really just a pretty direct reflection of what was covered in, or omitted from, the news over the past two months.  I can't view the video at work, but if the questions are accurately transcribed in the OP, I do have to say they sound like there's a bit of an agenda, and only true political junkies would know the story behind a large proportion of them and be able to deliver a correct non-chance answer.

Well we've heard it before from the DUmmies that they think Jon Stewart on The Daily Show delivers real news.

We shouldn't be surprised when they turn out to be as clueless as this survey seems to indicate they are.

I didn't know these 2 and I'm kind of a news junkie.  So much hidden away for so long.

When Plugs ran for Pres in (I Think) '88 he got caught plagarizing part of one of his speeches from some British MP.

And after a little digging it appears that the woman who gave up her seat in the Illinois Senate so The Rookie could run tried to challenge him for her old spot back and he got her tossed from the ballot because of something about not enough certified signatures on her petition.

But the #1 thing you need to run for president, a valid US brith certificate, he don't need....uh...huh.

Exactly.  Even when and if we win, we cannot stop the education process, though.

I spent election night with my aunt, who is just convinced that Palin is dumber than a sack of rocks.  As the numbers rolled in, she said that she couldn't remember anyone ever getting this many electoral votes.  It's been twice in her voting lifetime that a candidate has had a 49 state landslide.

My cousin said that "Republicans always do well on the west coast".  Not counting Alaska, of course, no Republican has won a single west coast state since 1988.

And these are also the same people who, when given a basic civics quiz, fail miserably.  The same one where most of the posters on this board who took it scored at least 55 of 60, or better than 90 percent.

It just goes to prove how liberally biased our education systems have become.

OR .. just because you are 'educated' doesn't mean you are smart.

I posted this on another site.  The Obamalama's didn't waste any time in attacking it.  God the spin I saw over there was just unbelievable.

Yeah, Willow and I were at USMB bitch slapping liberals over that YT and the zogby poll.

Why is it their first line of defense is that liberals are smarter than conservatives? I had one moonbat tell me that Obama was the smartest and most brilliant man ever. I asked her for evidence and she said, "it doesn't matter, he won". How is that for convoluted thinking?

Here's another one.

* 94 percent knew that Palin was the candidate with a pregnant teenage daughter, the highest correct score recorded by the Obama voters.

* Likewise, 86 percent knew that Palin was the candidate whose party bought her a $150,000 wardrobe.

Those answers suggest that the mainstream media's emphasis in this election was not exactly on the nuances of public policy. To be fair, though, they probably also reflect where the interests of Democratic voters tend to lie. This one is interesting:

* 87 percent said that Sarah Palin was the candidate who said she could see Russia from her house. Actually, it was Tina Fey who said that. Once again, though, it shows that Palin seemed to be the candidate who made the biggest impression, for better or worse.

What media bias?  :bird:

The correct term is "educated beyond your intelligence".  :cheersmate:

No kidding!  It wasn't SNL and Comedy Central that "educated" the voters, it was the MSM, who played the clips from SNL, et al, 24/7 before the election.  I can assure you that my Mother and inlaws didn't see those clips when they originally aired.
