CC original Photoshop Forum
« on: February 21, 2014, 06:18:51 AM »

Don't know if this has been asked before, but would it be possible to set up a forum for CC member photoshops?

I'm not talking about generic ones out on the net..I'm talking more about the ones we do of Democrats or DUmmies...I know there's a few of us here who like to dabble like myself, Charles and GOPCongress, and some of them are drop dead funny, and sometimes I don't get a chance to see them when they get buried in a particular thread.

I think it would make sense to limit it only to either political ones, or CC member originals, otherwise it might be cluttered with a bunch of nonsense.

Any thoughts?

The motion is seconded.

One concern would be storage space on youse guys servers though, so theres that.

Anyway, I like the idea.

I guess I should be clearer, too.

I know there is already a photoshop forum, I guess I'm saying either convert that to a CC member original forum, or create a child board off that.

One of the formats I was thinking of would be for the image to be posted and then a link back to the CC thread and title that the original image was posted in, to help with context.

An example being:

some words about the cousin's "knowledge" of history

Something like that.

We already have a Pictures & Photoshop forum.

I realize that, that's why I was trying to clarify what I meant.  That forum is a little generic, it has a lot of random LOL pics from the web, and I was talking about something more CC contributor specific, but I don't want to create unnecessary work, too.  No biggie.

What about a stickied thread in that forum?  A sub-forum for multiple topics is also an option.

That's not the same thing.

I can link an image into a post today and it might disappear tomorrow. Every person here that has an image associated with their profile, or posts an image to a thread relies on their own hosting service or the mercy of the original host.

I'm not going to belabor the point beyond this post but the thing is local storage for images created by cavers for cavers.

Honestly, whatever's easier.  I truly do not know anything about managing a forum, and I don't want to create unnecessary work for anyone.  Whatever ends up being the general consensus is fine with me.  Maybe we can see if a few more people weigh in later today and hear more opinions.

Check these out...

Free Image Hosting for bloggers, message board users.
http://www.imagevenue.com/

Free image hosting service for phpBB and vBulletin forum owners.
http://postimage.org/

Free online cloud storage.
https://depfile.com/

Free image hosting w/templates and bulk upload.
http://www.use.com/

Then there are the usual freebies; Photobucket, tinypic, imgur, imageshack, etc.

All that'll be needed would be a sub-forum. I'd suggest against one stickied thread. What say you Chris?

Is this a V-bulletin program?  Don't they come with a photo album option for each member?

You can upload pics right off of your computer to store in the album.
