As a Mets fan, you do not know how badly I want the Wilpons to have to sell the team.
Return to your normal subject . . .
One of my earliest sports memories is sneaking away from my group at the 1964 New York World's Fair to see the Amazin' Mets play at the brand-new Shea Stadium. I remember being stunned to see escalators in a stadium. I also remember Amado Samuel playing shortstop, and firing two double play balls into right field.
A schoolkid could do that back then, with good seats at maybe $5.
Also back then, a chaperone for a group of kids would simply designate a time and place for everyone to meet for the return trip the hotel. No one would panic if you disappeared for a few hours.
