Chuck roast
« on: January 11, 2010, 04:49:41 AM »
Just picked up a beautiful Angus chuck roast at price chopper for 1.99 a pound. Beautifully marbled, looks like a big fat steak. I have no illusions about it though, probably will need to be made into a pot roast. I think I'll seal and freeze it for a while.

Pot roast most likely, maybe in a crock pot.

I wanted hamburger (ground chuck) the other day when I was at Food City, to make chili. They had it for $3.49 a pound..... :o :o :o

I didn't buy any.  :bawl:

Prices like this are why I shop at Walmart and Sam's.

I saw a marinade on AllRecipies I'm gonna have to try...cut up pieces of marinated chuck over rice or noodles.  Sounds like a damn good plan, and a helluva lot cheaper than steak.

I'm doing a couple of pork tenderloins tonight with sauteed mushrooms and onions in a brown gravy with buttered noodles.

Not very creative, but it's comfort food.......and it makes the "boys" happy... :-)

Did anyone see the recipe I posted for turkey sliders....they were really good. Even heard son telling someone on the phone how good they were!

At Ralph's yesterday they had hamburger for $1.97 (ground sirloin or chuck) a pound so I bought two pounds and made Chili last night.  We had Frito pies for dinner.

We had snow and bitter cold last week, and I think they just marked up the stuff that they knew people would buy.  :censored:

I've been known to throw a chuck roast on the grill. While it takes at least half an hour to get done, it can pretty tasty. I use Famous Daves Steak & Burger Seasoning. Let it soak in for an hour or so and grill it. It makes mighty tasty chili with the leftovers.

I sent Mr Flame after some hamburger on Saturday...they didn't have any out so he asked the butcher...they ground up some sirloin for him, and gave it to him for $1.99 lb!

Frito Pie originated in Texas, I think. It's a small bag of Fritos sliced open on the side, with chili poured over them and then topped with cheese and onions (traditionally). One can use a bowl or plate, too.

Now my mouth is watering. Too bad I threw the roast in the freezer last night.
