Tom Brokaw whined on Stephen Colbert's show about how the mainstream media no longer has a monopoly on the news. Poor Tom. He yearns for the "good old days" when the MSM could project their spin on the news while mostly unchecked by outside sources. He is upset that monopoly is now challenged by the social media.

Tom Brokaw is correct that back then, at the end of the day, they were liable for what they reported. And what people eventually determined was that the MSM wasn't reliable. So, in a sense, Tom Brokaw got his wish in that he and the rest of the liberal media have been held liable.
