18. I bought two

One really good French Champagne for a true celebration and one decent sparkling white for every other eventuality (drowning sorrows, solid maybes, etc.). I'm hoping that the Veuve Cliquot will be opened around midnight.

The liquor cabinet is well-stocked should a different mood emerge.

onecaliberal should be paying attention to CA's ballot propositions, such as the one that would reverse the ban on race being a consideration in state hiring and college admissions and the one that would overturn the Uber-Lyft Killer AB-5. I suspect normal-people sanity will prevail in both, but I also suspect onecaliberal didn't vote sanely in at least one of those.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

I suspect normal-people sanity will prevail in both, but I also suspect onecaliberal didn't vote sanely in at least one of those.

As I mentioned in the Shoutbox, the proposition that would have permitted race and gender being a consideration in state hiring and college admissions failed, and the proposition that would have overturned the Uber-Lyft Killer AB-5 passed. A proposition that would have allowed various cities and counties to pass their own unique rent control ordinances also failed.

So three victories for common sense and conservatives!

Yeah, that is somewhat baffling.  Mentioned at CU that Illinois voted down that fat rich jagoff Governor's "progressive" income tax.  Yet the state still voted for Sleepy Joe 55-43ish.  And re-elected that idiot Durbin for the 5th time to U.S. Senate.

Glad about the Uber/Lyft thing as that would have a gigantic ripple effect on the economy that liberals don't realize.  Your $10 ride would have been $25-$30 had that idiotic bill passed.
