Title: Hello from Phoenix
Post by: addisondad on April 20, 2009, 07:35:19 PM
Hey everyone,

I joined this site on a tip from a good friend. I've been reading threads and am very happy to have joined. It would be refreshing to exchange thoughts, opinions and general discussions with folks who haven't been poisoned by liberalism.

I am a 50 years old, happily married, and conservative. I have been a touring sound engineer for 23 years and have had to hold my tongue in many instances, as my employers are usually liberal kool-aid drinkers.

I grew up in Chicago and moved to NYC when I was twenty two. I moved to Phoenix at the beginning of this decade and have never been happier. I hope to retire in the future and buy a house in Sedona with money I have earned from all the liberal entertainers I've worked for over the years.

I am not a McCain fan, but voted for him while holding my nose because I saw clearly what an Obama administration could bring. After 90 days, I am suprised only by the high end velocity of his arrogance, ignorance and general distain for individuals who aren't hypnotised by his teleprompted vitriol. I mean, I knew things were going to get bad, just not this bad, this fast.

Hope to correspond with as many other Conservative Cavers as I can.

Welcome to the board. Always room for another conservative and a CUBS fan.

Thanks thundley,
Got a tip from a good friend.
Haven't been able to stomach the Cubs MB, arguing with the morons. I've been reading threads here for a bit and would rather spend my free time here.
Getting ready for a 12 week run starting Wednesday. 6 weeks in the US and 6 weeks in Europe and a few dates in Russia.

Thanks Rightcoast,

"Semper Fi means more then most will ever know"

Great quote and very true. I know enough to be very grateful and appreciative for your service to our Country.

You're 50 years old.  You should recognize Jefferson Airplane's "Crown Of Creation" album cover.   :-)

Yes, I had it on vinyl.

I have read a couple of your posts in the last couple days. They didn't seem to come from a liberal.

I tell all newbys I'm a liberal.  That way, they talk real slow to me and I don't have to think too much.

Nice to be called a newbie at 50.

I think from what I've seen so far, a liberals head would explode from reading around here. Not like that would be a bad thing.

You're just a kid.  I'm old enough to be your uncle.

Texas.  East of the Dallas area.

I'll be in the Dallas area on May 9th at Pizza Hut Park with a band headlining a radio metal fest.

Always a good time to be had in Big D and thereabouts. Have done shows at the Nokia Theater, the Smirnoff ampitheater, the America Airlines Center, the Reunion and even Dallas Stadium(the old one). Was at Pizza Hut last summer with Ozzy Osborne.

The city is in the process of tear down Reunion Arena and Smirnoff is now SuperPages.com Music Center.  I haven't been to Ozzfest since before it moved to Pizza Hut.

Pizza Hut is set up pretty well for large concert events. Nice big stage and the trucks load in from stage level. Keep in touch if you are interested in checking it out. Always good to hang with a token liberal.

Good talking with you LU.

I sorta skimmed over this thread and only caught this sentence.  I thought "must be one hell of a restaurant". :mental:

Welcome addisondad, and happy belated birthday.

Which sucks, though that's progress. I saw my first Stars game there. When I played soccer as a kid, we'd always play there once a season. Some good memories of that place.

Sounds like a cool job.

Welcome to CC.

There are others here from Phoenix, and even more from the Dallas area.

Enjoy.

In my opinion, tearing it down is absurd.  It's only 29 years old.  There are no plans for the land.

Where it sits it could easily be incorporated into the Dallas Convention Complex.  A little remodeling and a facelift is all it needs.

I don't think the bonds that built it are paid off yet.

That is a shame.
There is a place called the Bronco Bowl. One of the worst places to load in and out heavy equipment. Back in the 80's, it would take 10 guys and a rope to load in the heavier pieces. Load outs were the worst.

I was born and raised in Oak Cliff.  Bronco Bowl was part of my life.  It was a place with a character and atmosphere all its own.  It's gone too.

The last time I was there was with System of a Down in 2002. I had been there a few times before. I don't remember having a bad show there, but I do remember how much locals loved the place. And I'll never forget how much work was put in to get the gear in ad out of the place.

I have great memories about the place.  There was a great snack bar.  Nothing like a Bronco Burger with Fifth Frame Fries.

I saw only one show there in the Auditorium.  I think it was the Butthole Surfers.  It was a long tiime ago.

The place was not designed (in 1958) for rock shows.
