"from watching too much television." Ha, I like that one. Especially after that DUmmie's tirade yesterday about the media. While reading her rant, I kept saying to myself, "turn the darn TV off."

Another reason I think is their dogged determination to be insular.  Look at how they treat dissent over there:  Name Removed.  Any differing opinion than their own in real life is reacted to by closing the mind tight as a drum, and going lalalalalala.   Then brushing it away by calling it racism and the all-encompassing "hate."   The result is an unexamined life.

I said they learned it in school: As I take classes now, I can definitely confirm the liberal bent of most instructors.  Also, that ties into the unexamined life comment, they never learned to think critically...

Liberalism doesn't require any thought or personal participation.  You pick an issue, agree with how the gov't should determined to handle it, wipe your conscience clean that you are aware of the issue and the gov't is the solution (which means you've "done something,") and then move on to the next issue.  When the gov't fails to deliver, you blame those who refuse to be ruled by gov't bureaucrats and insist their freedoms should not be infringed.  Lather. Rinse. Repeat.  They disdain anyone who doesn't view the world the way they do, which contributes to their seething hatred, and by virtue of that they've isolated themselves away from how normal, descent and civilized people actually conduct their daily lives.  Naturally, stupidity follows.

I hesitate to call them all stupid. Some of worse than that. Some are very intelligent, but choose to be ignorant. They have to be ignorant to keep up their leftist outlook, as their ideas don't work in the real world without forcing everyone to the lowest common denominator.

The one thing they really have in common is emotional immaturity. They want what everyone else has, but do not want to work for it and expect the government to hand it to them. That's also their basis for viewing the world as zero sum. For them to have something, it has to be taken away from someone else. They don't want others to have what they have. It allows them to feel "special" without actually doing anything.

Yes, I have to agree. Grown people talking baby talk doesn't help either.

Something else.  What's missing ?  They have no humor. That is partially why they're so miserable.  You never read anything they write and think it's funny.  Even when they tell you it's funny it's not.  I don't get it.

common sense.  They have NO common sense. I could list a page full of posts about this but I won't.  You all read over there, you all know.

I don't think they're stupid but I do think they act and sound stupid.  Okay, sometimes they are stupid. You know there are a few that are.

I use their forum as an example for my son so he doesn't become a moonbat.  :-)

There's a basic math component to it, in addition to just 'All of the above,' which was my vote.  After all, if the average IQ is 100, then for all of us 150+ people, there's gonna be a pool of 50- people to iron things out.

By coincidence, I am reading the biography of Lady Georgiana Spencer the G-G-G-G- Aunt of Diana Princess of Wales.

Seems like politics and society has not changed that much basically since the mid 1700.
      As one old cranky Peer of the Realm said of society back then " Vice is tolerated in others as long as it is kept quiet ".

The libs. of that time did some good however as they no longer hang children for stealing a crust of bread.
