I REALLY enjoyed that! These guys and gals apparently tour -- they're up in the northeast currently and won't be back in the Big Easy till next month.

Stay ON Bourbon Street! Do NOT go to any of the side streets.

I went a few times. The last time the insurance adjuster I met called and asked if he could bring me an "escort." I was not sure about it, but I said OK.

The reason: Turned out that if a guy has a woman on his arm the whores don't lean out the windows and offer "stuff" to them.

And Nan was a very pretty, and a very nice 2nd grade Catholic School teacher. We all had a good time, and we weren't bothered by the ladies of the night.

CG,

When was the last time you went?  Do you think things have gotten better or worse after Katrina?

It was in the late 80s or the early 90s. I understand from a lawyer I used to hire down there that it's much worse now.

Worse.  Last time I drove through was in 06, on my way to the gulf coast.  Picked up a buddy at the airport in NOLA on our way over that way.  If you are on Bourbon Street, it probably looks the same or better, but that is just one little segment of the city.  The rest is pretty much the same ole decrepit town.

Want some fun? I crawled through a disgusting basement in a poorer section of NO (just think about that and who lived there) in August (No A/C, over 100o, with 100% humidity) to investigate a scald claim. Mice, rats, roaches, all kinds of disgusting vermin, rotten stairs, with mold and fungus throughout the house. And this was way before Katrina.

The tide should rise and flush the whole damned place out to sea.

NO thank you.  Have had my fun crawling through hot smelly creepy crawly stuff.  Took me a few months after I got home to get my cough to go away.

I'm not a huge Iron Maiden fan.  I was listening to Slayer, Megadeth, and Metallica in the 80s.

But it was a really good show.
