Quote
George Herbert Walker Bush, who as the 41st president guided the United States out of the Cold War and led an international coalition into the Gulf War, has died. He was 94.

In a statement from former President George W. Bush reads: "Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro, and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear Dad has died. George H. W. Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for. The entire Bush family is deeply grateful for 41’s life and love, for the compassion of those who have cared and prayed for Dad, and for the condolences of our friends and fellow citizens."

Bush was a World War II naval pilot who survived being shot down over the Pacific, led the CIA and spent eight years as vice president before taking the Oval Office. He was the father of the 43rd president, George W. Bush.

Former President George H. W. Bush has passed away.

Former President George H. W. Bush has passed away.

Wasn't a fan, but one hell of a nice guy.
I was going to bring over some of the highlights from the DUmp, but it seems unfitting. Those animals are just too much sometimes.

He doubled the cap on legal immigration raising the total to over a million a year. We are living with that mistake today, a mistake that may lead to the eventual destruction of the country.

Bush failed to endorse Trump for President, along with the rest of his family. The Bushes were not loyal to the GOP and proved to be ungrateful for the support the GOP gave them. Teaming up with the Clinton's was unforgivable.

George H.W. Bush Calls Trump a ‘Blowhard’

Both father and son had previously said they did not vote for Trump, with the elder Bush opting for Clinton and his son saying he chose “none of the above” on the ballot.

Of Reagan, Bush, Bush, and Trump, GHW was not my favorite. Compared to Clinton and Obama, GHWB served the US, from flying TBM Avengers in WW2 through retirement. WJC and BHO served themselves.

It should be pointed out that even though both deaths were anticipated, Barbara and George died just 8 months apart. 2018 has been a tough year for the Bush family.

So for anyone wondering...the moving pieces for President Bush's funeral began last night when his death was announced.

Inside the Military District of Washington Ceremonies office on Ft. McNair there are several large three ringed binders.  No names are on them...just numbers.  39, 41, 42 etc.  Those books contain the detailed plans each President, via a designated family representative, has for their respective funeral.

If they didn't leave a couple hours after notification, then early this morning a funeral team from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) boarded a plane at Andrews AFB bound for Houston to bring the body of the former President back to D.C.

When the plane returns to Andrews, after any memorial services and/or ceremonial functions conducted in Houston,  there will be another team from The Old Guard Waiting to transfer the casket of the former President to a waiting hearse. Depending on what happens in Houston and depending on the wishes of the former President in his funeral book...this could happen in a matter of hours or take the weekend.

There will be a funeral procession to the capitol, if I had to make an educated guess, because he is a Navy Veteran, his procession may stop by the WW II memorial on it's way to the Capitol in the same manner that former President Ford's did in 2006.

There will be no less than three different casket teams...possibly four at the Capitol upon his arrival to transfer his casket to the top of the steps.  Again making an educated guess, I'm thinking the casket and it's escort will pause briefly in front of the doors to the House of Representatives to honor his time as a member of the House before arriving at the rotunda where he will lay in state and people can come and pay their respects.

What people don't see is what goes on behind the scenes to make all of this happen.  In addition to the normal state funeral rehearsals the Honor Guards conduct in D.C. there are right now orders going out for designated units, firing parties and teams to begin set up and rehearsal procedures that will continue over the weekend to ensure what the people see on TV is absolutely flawless.

Much the way I feel.  Met him once, handshake at a photo op.  Didn't care for his globalist tendencies and he was no friend of the 2nd Amendment.  His greatest strategic mistake was backing down on the 'No new taxes' pledge, it opened up a door that lots of the GOP left through in 1992, either staying home or voting for Chicken Man.

I'm sure it's like a sewer overflowing over there. Bringing over some of their sludge on Sunday or Monday is soon enough. I'm not starry-eyed over GHWB, but he probably accomplished more for America in just 1944 and 1945 than all of DU in their lifetimes.

So much potential, but so little really accomplished.  He was a nice guy, and as the old saying goes, "Nice guys finish last." He was denied a second term by Perot and the Democrats who 'Read his Lips' and force fed him a tax bill  he could not veto.

Clinton went on to win a plurality (only 44%) in the next election.    His time here on earth is at an end.  Fair sea's and following wind in his life to follow.

It's a sad day no matter how you feel about him. Thank you for your service to your country when she needed you most.
