Title: problem with new.....
Post by: franksolich on March 03, 2015, 08:11:39 AM
Okay, so I set up this new computer, which obviously included newer versions of programs.

I'm having a problem with Paint; it doesn't work like Paint used to on the old computer.

Example:

The above's a Word document, onto which I've "inserted" two different images, to make one.

After which I did a "print screen," pasting that to Paint.

On the old Paint, all I ever had to do was select the rectangle defined by dotted lines, and "save as" to save only the parts inside that rectangle, as a different image, to be used on one of my "open letters to....." in the DUmpster.

It's not working in this new Paint; it saves the whole thing, rather than what's inside the rectangle delineated by a dotted line.

Its slightly different with the new paint - once you select the portion you want to save by dragging the rectangle around it, you then need to press the 'crop' button, then save. The 'crop' button will become clickable once you make your selection. Its right next to the 'select' tool.

So, one extra step. Select. Crop. Save.

Thank you!  Very much!
