New CA bill would limit the speed of all vehicles to 10 MPH over the speed limit
CA Senate Bill 961, introduced by Scott Wiener of San Francisco, would require new vehicles to install a governor device by 2027 that would limit it from going over 10 MPH over the posted speed limit.

I think this is a great idea and the kind of legislation we can expect from Democrats who care about public safety. This is what Democrats want from their government - to ensure safe living conditions.

Fun Thread!!   :lmao:

Soooooo what exactly will tell that governor device the speed limit?  Google?  That would be a nice juicy contract, I"m sure.  Transponders on the speed limit signs?  Again, what company gets that money?  How many situations do we get into as drivers where you need to speed up suddenly to avoid some sort of accident?

So much "govern me harder" from Cali.  Interestingly enough, there's a lot of pushback in the thread from the DUmp flies, and a whole lot of auto-removed posts.  Maybe there is some hope.

Will never happen in the original 13 states.

I've also seen how self-driving vehicles have failed - I'm trying to imagine a mix of these vehicles, self-driving and person acceleration/braking on I-78 or I-80 at rush hour.

My husband just bought a new to us truck - it will be the last one in his life (blacksmith so necessary to haul rod) -

Is the government going to pay to have these installed at the full cost? If CA state gov can't figure it out so that it is entirely at the cost of the Government - not going to happen anywhere else.

Just another DUmmie who doesn't realize WE are the government.   :rotf:

[snip]

You can't make this shit up...  :whatever:

But I think I finally figured out why leftist scum are so adamant that all of us drive EVs: they heard that most accidents occur within 20 miles of home, and so they want to force everyone into a vehicle with a range of only 19 miles.

1. The means to communicate the speed limit is the means to abuse that communication capability.

2. Why in Hades should multiple points of failure - the communication, the electronic control functions, and the mechanical governor - be imposed with near-zero benefit?! Millions of cars would have their reliability compromised to, supposedly, hinder a few hundred or thousand speeders.

I haven't been represented in Sacto or DC in decades.

How are they going to install a mechanical device to work on cars with electronic fuel injection? I don't know that much about cars but I do know that this sounds like a bad idea and would lead to all kinds of problems beyond the supposed benefit of making the roads safer.

It's actually quite simple on modern FI vehicles.
They just use the ECU to read the wheel speed and then trim out the fuel supply when it hits the limit. Same way they control the rev limiter. My current car has a 150mph speed limiter on it.   Why? Who the hell knows... makes zero sense

Humm, falling revenue from "ticket" sales?  Nope,  not gonna happen.
