Mark this day on the calendar. This is the 1st reasonable post that Leftmum has ever stated. And I mean ever.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

41. I had fedex problems once.
I was called by the police where they felt my package looked suspicious so they pulled it off the line and called me asking what was it the package. They said it had a lot of tape and holes in the upper sides.

I told them since they said if i did not they would open it . I told them what it was , a turtle I was sending back to a friend how moved. Hence the air holes. They said it looked like it may be drugs. I said open it then but just make certain you put things the way they were.

They did not open it and put it back .
The form asks what is inside and I put that one there , once fedex would not ship it so I had to go to a main fedex not a kinkos fedex.

62. Nope no holes necessary, I would never ship a living thing in a box.
I'm sorry they called the police. Such nonsense.

105. It was not just a box
It was a plastic container with damp moss with air holes and this in an insulted styrofoam container with holes and cushion and then the outter box and overnight next day air by 10 am three states away.
I didn't want to do it either but it was not my decision and I got instructions on how to pack a turtle.

They got good drugs. NO sane person woulda come up with this. :mental:

Damn, I missed a good thread while I was gone.  :(

So, the DUmmy never actually stated what the contents of that package were?  Figures.  :whatever:   If they knew the items weren't dangerous, they should have said so instead of making a big fuss.  I used to work in my parents' UPS Store, and all employees were REQUIRED to ask what the contents were.

Had they done that in my parents' store (the big royal hissy fit that lonestar gave), my stepdad would have ordered them to leave, or he'd call the cops.  The  police in the small town where the store is are so quick to act  :-).  And he actually HAS had to do that several  times, unfortunately.  There have been so many people who can't (or wouldn't) read the sign my parents have sitting on the front counter stating SPECIFICALLY which items could not be shipped, in BIG BOLD LETTERS.  :banghead:

I think this is a great opportunity for some DUmmie entrepreneur to start a DUmmie parcel service, NO QUESTIONS ASKED! I'll look for the first plane to go down in, say, 2 days after it's created.

I send packages through UPS regularly (my son seems to think homemade cookies make him a better Marine). The family that owns the local franchise have a son who is also a Marine so we chat about what our boys are doing every time I come in. To this day they ask what's in my package...it's never anything very expensive: cookies, movies, cd's, video games, etc. I tell them and we go on with our conversation. It's not like I'm sending porn or anything (my son can get that on the Internet on his own) but asking is part of their job...sometimes a person might want to purchase extra insurance depending upon the value of the package contents...they can't know what to recommend if they don't know whether the value is greater than the standard amount for every package. And they don't ask to open it...it's one of those honor system things. DUmmies make life so much harder than it has to be.

It's ironic, really....the DUmmy doesn't want to share information about what he's sending with the big evil gubmint, claiming it's an invasion of privacy, but the DUmmy is also clamoring for the gubmint to have Nat'l healthcare.  How much info would the evil gubmint have about the Dummy then?????
