I think gNads lies.  One would think that someone who  "...did once fence at a pretty high level...", still has a foil and drills from time to time would have kept up with the advances in the scoring, would have known that the scoring cables had been replaced with wireless.

She has, according to her thousands of posts, remained expert on everything else under the sun, how did this tidbit get bypassed?  I think she makes shit up.  (gasp!)

Piece of trivia, the metallic piece looking thing records the hits. You're dragging cables, slight tension. Before any competition we trained with those suckers for a couple of weeks. Doing it without them, usual training, feels very different.
