That reminded me of a caller on a local radio talk show, hosted by the mayor.  This DUmmy got on and sounded all tough-guy:  "I wanna know what (politician) is gonna do FOR ME!!!!"  The Mayor, an independent (Palin fan, but also a fan of some dems), said "Whoa whoa whoa, stop asking politicians what they're going to do for you.  They're not going to do anything, take care of yourself."

My wife's first husband abused her, to the point that a lot of her health problems today are a result of it.  2 back surgeries and a hip replacement.  She just turned 47 on Tuesday, she is in constant pain and has to move line a 70 year old woman.  I HATE that bastard for what he has done to her, but Karma has been a bigger bitch to him than any woman could ever dream of being.

We went to his dad's funeral about a year ago.  My wife didn't even recognize him, that's how bad he looked!

She asked me "Who that ugly old WOMAN who was sitting next to one of her ex-sister-in-laws?"

DD, I am fortunate that I have a man who has provided me the same, after a whole mess of experiences that sound very similar to what your wife went through.  Granted, life may be a bit boring and predictable daily, but I wouldn't trade my serenity for a dang thing.  I am proud to know you, even if it is just the innernets.   :cheersmate:
