Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

It must be that new reverse-merit system.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the very essence of teh socialism these cretins propose to have all salaries surveyed and set according to the whims of a democratic majority?

They want CEO's, sports figures, etc to have their salaries publicly scrutinized but they squeal like cats in gearworks when they are offerede the opportunity to live under their own rules.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

My husband, who is at VP level has not only is his salary publicly available but his stock options and bonus as well.  It's just one short google search away.  I noticed it was available online when his company was bought by a very large toy company.

Amazing how the DUmmies are all for transparency in EVERYTHING...except when it involves them. :whatever:

greenbriar is just pissed because she doesn't want everyone knowing that she is not giving the taxpayers a return on their investment.

I'd be willing to be that she's not giving the kind of education to the kids in the town where she works that's equal to what she's making on her paycheck.

I wouldn't be surprised is this isn't just faux-outrage on the greedy thorn primitive's part. She's posted in the past about getting jewelry, cruises, etc...bragging?

I mean really, she's the one who started this OP. Unless another primitive took it upon himself to point it out, this would have went unnoticed.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Mrs. Smith, as you say, quite true. However there are many, many who do the absolute minimum. In my day, we would "exchange" exams and score them, pass them forward to the teacher. A few has us score tests in their study hall. One English teacher did not change her ciriculum over THREE GENERATIONS of STUDENTS! And she wasn't the worst, only the most anoying. She tought Shakespear without also giving us the meanings and useage of words AT THE TIME they were written, how people viewed things like ghosts/spirits  and the like so much of it made no sense whatever.

At the same time, in the same school, there are dedicated  EDUCATORS out there who damned near put in  an hour at home and on weekends for each hour they spend in a classroom. Who make it easy to learn by making the clasroom experience a positive one. Unfortunately, they are the minority. The contracts that the districts have with the "union" make it near impossible to replace the bad and lazy once tenure is aquired.

30. put your money where your mouth is....Name, Place of work and Salary please
 As I have said...

I have NO problem with the salary schedule being published

but to put my name and my building in the paper puts ME at risk

At risk of what, exactly, you dizzy over-dramatic witch?

i just read that whole thread.. what a riot! the other DUers keep asking her why she's so upset, she never really says.

but she is DAMN SURE gonna change her phone number!!

woop'de'doo.. i hope she just keeps raving long enough that it makes it easier to figure out who she is, so someone can send her posts to her school and they can toss her out for being such an idiot.

i mean, really. did she not know she was a public employee all these years??  :whatever:

Remember that school teaching is a part time job. At least here in NY, teachers are required to be at their jobs from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm (prefered that they get there 30 min early, and leave 30 min after last bell), with a 50 min. lunch and at least one 50 min  study hall there are a total of 8 periods a day of 50 min. each. SO THE WORK DAY is about 6 hours long. In NY the school year is 183 days long. 183 days a year times 6 is 1098 hours per work year, and MANY (NOT all ) make damned sure that's ALL in the public record .

Compared to the private sector, they work up to 900 hours a year LESS !

and they basically cannot be fired and they get benefits that are guaranteed by law.

we have a strike about to happen here, and i swear to God, if I hear one more teacher on tv saying, "its for the kids" I will smack somebody..  :thatsright:

I seem to remember some time back when some newspapers printed the names and addresses of concealed carry permit holders, of course the DUmmies were all for it....hypocrisy thy name is DU.

Some papers did that here in Ohio, the moonbat liberals were all for it.

Our paper did that as well.  The GOP managed to get it yanked in less than 24 hours.

She should be so lucky.  Our local papers publish the salaries (with OT) of EVERY public employee in EVERY town, EVERY year.

I'd love to know how the **** I could make $110K like some of our firefighters in this town.

Oh, and the HS guidance counselor just got nailed in New Durham, NH for trying to break into an 84-year old woman's apartment.

I do think she is backhanded bragging and in many states, free, 57K IS a respectable income. A family in a number of areas can survive on that one income with a good budget and do it in a good neighborhood. In her neck of the woods, that kind of income is better then respectable.

I agree--even in an area where the cost of an average home (like here) is over 200K, 60K a year is not bad at all.

Add her husband's income, she's not doing badly at all--better even than me, in fact.

True -- everything is relative. In California (which I am about to leave, which you will hear from me over and over for the next few months), $57K is just above the poverty level.

Even without it, she could live pretty comfortably in Kansas. Maybe not a couple cruises and pieces of jewelry a year comfortably, but not hurting for even creature comforts and a new set of wheels for certain.

Yeah, trust me when I say, it's a livable income in a lot of other places. Here in central OH you can get in a good solid neighborhood and with a good budget live a no frills, decent life on that. Add another 10k and you'll have a couple of newer vehicles, a vacation, and a few other extras without it squeezing you. I think expectations of what a good life is matters too. I've lived in a few areas of the country and what constitutes basic living in one is considered a luxury in others--that probably has a lot to do with it too. It becomes a quality of life issue and part of the cost of living in an area that is expected. I hope all that made sense. I'm mid paper writing right now..lol
