ATF Teams Form in 7 Cities to Stop Gun Smuggling

Including my home town of Sierra Vista.  Woohoo we hit the big time, as DH said this morning over the paper and coffee.
It's a start.

From the Sierra Vista Herald:

PHOENIX (AP) — A federal agency trying to stop guns from being smuggled from the United States into Mexico for use by drug cartels has formed teams in seven American cities to combat the problem.

The permanent 10-member teams will be based in two cities in the border region — in Brownsville, Texas, and Sierra Vista, Ariz. — and away from the border where smugglers have set up trafficking routes and recruit gun buyers in Dallas, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Atlanta and Miami.

Melson said a team will be based in the southern Arizona city of Sierra Vista because the Sinaloa drug cartel uses the area as a transit route.

What a waste.  The good stuff that the cartels are using...the grenade launchers, the fully automatic weapons etc are NOT coming from gun shows in the US.  From the pictures of the seized materials that I have seen a lot of it is illegal in the US.  More feel good nothingness.

Hmm, I hadn't considered that.  And I did feel good.  Oh well, c'est la vie.
Well, at least Sierra Vista, AZ and Brownsville, TX are near the border so any law enforcement presence has to be a little help.  I hope.

They will do nothing to stop the illegals.  They are there to hassle people at gun shows and cause issues for second amendment types.  They will look the other way if they encounter an illegal immigrant.  Heck, under Odummer, they will likely assist the illegals in some way or another.

The myth about most of the guns in Mexico coming from the US illegally has already been exposed. This is , as you said just meant to hassle people at gun shows in the region.

Yeah, the heavy stuff is coming into ports through bribed officials, and up from the south.  I'm sure there is some dirt on our side of the border, and in addition to busting or entrapping a few innocents this will actually catch some real criminals, but not all that many and it won't have much impact.  It's like having one band-aid to patch forty or fifty deep puncture wounds.

I agree Taxman.  Many socialists in the imposters cabinet hate guns and the second amendment.
