Mosquito with Dinosaur DNA?????
I killed this sucker yesterday, he was on my windshield staring me down.
I couldn't take it any more and decided to attack before he did.
He was at least 2 inches long.
I have never seen a mosquito that big in all my life, and I live in the land of mosquitoes..central Florida on the edge of a swamp.

Has anyone on here ever seen something like this before?

You found Skeetie! How did he lose his collar?
-
Around here I'd say that's the fighter escort for the big "Bomber Mosquitoes".
-
Sorry for your loss ExGeeEye. you should have kept Skeetie on his chain. There was no collar present when he confronted me.
JohnnyReb, I have no doubt he would be the leader of the pack.
-
Actually, I think that's a dragon fly.
-
It doesn't look like any dragon fly I have ever seen.
You could be right.
Only thing is it had the snout of a mosquito.
-
OK I have been searching this monster out and I think I might have found it....

Gallinippers: 'Giant' mosquito invasion? Nope, just another Florida critter
But insect experts say they're flabbergasted at how a seldom-seen mosquito that's always been here is drawing so much buzz. Gallinippers are thought to make up less than 2 percent of the mosquito population and they don't spread any of the dreaded mosquito-borne illnesses such as West Nile virus. Many who work in the mosquito-control trenches feel its bite is actually milder than its smaller, more pestiferous peers - certainly no match for the dreaded salt marsh mosquito.
-
salt marsh mosquito.....that must be the flesh eating little bastards they have in the Keys.
-
Maybe I was wrong about it being the Gallinipper Mosquito....
