Group wants Wi-Fi banned from public buildings

Group wants Wi-Fi banned from public buildings

A group in Santa Fe says the city is discriminating against them because they say that they're allergic to the wireless Internet signal. And now they want Wi-Fi banned from public buildings.

Arthur Firstenberg says he is highly sensitive to certain types of electric fields, including wireless Internet and cell phones.

"I get chest pain and it doesn't go away right away," he said.

Firstenberg and dozens of other electro-sensitive people in Santa Fe claim that putting up Wi-Fi in public places is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

So far, EMF is not a recognized disability, nor are there any scientific or medical studies to validate it exists at all: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=15784787

I have never heard of people being allergic to electronics. One more way to claim victim status, I guess.

If I claim to be allergic to idiots, will they disband the democratic party?

I was thinking the other day that we don't have enough victim groups in the country. Glad to see someone's stepping up to the plate.  :whatever:

I wonder if they'll march on Washington.  Will we see PSA's during American Idol?

There will come a day soon when the able will be so outnumbered by the disabled that being able will be a new disability.  Society will have to start putting things back to normal in order to satisfy the requirements of the ADA so the able will not be disabled trying to appease the disabled.

This is way to easy. Since EMF is a part of daily life these people who are "sensitive" have a choice.

Antarctica or a bullet.

Problem solved.

In California we passed that point quite some time ago.

how do these people live?  Their bodies have been bombarded with radio waves since they were born.  I guess we should stop all forms of broadcasting just to appease them.

How can these people be bothered by EMF when they keep so much tinfoil wrapped around their heads all the time?

Earth Songs

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2001/ast19jan_1.htm

If humans had radio antennas instead of ears, we would hear a remarkable symphony of strange noises coming from our own planet. Scientists call them "tweeks," "whistlers" and "sferics." They sound like background music from a flamboyant science fiction film, but this is not science fiction. Earth's natural radio emissions are real and, although we're mostly unaware of them, they are around us all the time.

"Everyone's terrestrial environment almost literally sings with radio waves at audio frequencies," says Dennis Gallagher, a space physicist at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). "Our ears can't detect radio waves directly, but we can convert them to sound waves with the aid of a very low frequency (VLF) radio receiver."

If they're allergic to radio waves, there is NO safe place...   :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
