Gotta wonder how she managed to get a day care license despite having arson charges.

Oh I discriminate against age.  I can't trust a 22 year old with my toddler.  No way.  Ever.  Not even a six year old.  Young adults these days are so much different than say, 10 years ago even.  I started babysitting at 13.  But there were less distractions back then.  That totally sounds like I am really old, but I'm not.  lol

I'd rather not wonder if my babysitter is playing Angry Birds on Android rather than watching my daughter.

Hey! What's wrong with playing Angry Birds? That shit is awesome!

Then again, when dealing with kids, maybe not so much...

BIG PROBLEM here folks.   The day care center may have catered to parents that could not pay $!00 a week for each kid.  To put 2 kids in day care to work 2-3 jobs at minimun wage is to take 40% of the salary one brings in. So one goes to a low cost center and prays for the best.

I do not want to offend anyone here--- the problem seems to be with family's with 2-3 kids on welfare that get a job.

So we who who feel the children have a right to life now go nuts that we have to pay for them after they are born.  We demand the mother or father support the kids, and get out there and work.    NOW who takes care of the kids while they work????

People trying to get off welfare with kids are behind a rock and a hard place.   Who can they afford to pay to watch their baby's while they work???

A real bitch any income is deducted from welfare check but the cost to watch the children is not considered.   So a single mom with 2 baby's brings in $ 360  gross and after taxes perhaps $ $340 only a week and her cost to watch her kids is $150  a week.  Her welfare will be cut down to match her salary but with child care she is net  about $190 bucks a week.------------------------If she stays home and lives on welfare she will get minimun of $225 bucks a week and section 8 housing and food stamps.

What we think people are stupid, go to work, loose all the benefits and leave your baby's with anyone you can find.  This is when tragedy comes in and lives are changed for the worse.

This is the way things were years ago--Today I do not know but I do hope they are better.  Trying to work and get reliable care givers for our precious baby's is difficult regardless if you are very poor or ultra rich.

$100 a week for daycare?  LMFAO

When Carleigh was in daycare, we paid $195 a week.  It would have been nice to pay $100/wk though.  I'd just like to say WTF to the rest of your post though.

My niece decided to be a stay at home mom to her little girls. She has taken on two other small ones to help supplement her side of not having a job. It works out well for her and her husband. We (my parents, her parents)all help out when we can. i will buy the girls pj's and other clothes using my discount, if they are struggling. Each situation is different, and everone has to do what is best for them and be open to other options.

Ps @ Jess, Carleigh is a very pretty and unique name

Thanks.  I liked the name, but not the traditional spelling of Carly.  So I made it Carleigh.  :)

I'm working on getting an ad on Care.com for babysitting.  I'm home all day, why not?  It will be a small income to hold us over.  And my in-laws are always sending out clothes for Carleigh.  We rarely buy her any outfits these days because everyone else does it for us.  We are very very thankful for the grandparent's.

It's good that you have supportive parents. Everyone struggles, and there is nothing wrong in reaching out whether recieving or giving help.
