There is live video on the page



The explosion happened around 11:30 a.m. at AGE Refining, Inc. located at 7811 South Presa, near Southeast Military Drive.

News 4 WOAI has learned at least 2 people have been injured.

An AGE official said there are approximately 50 employees who would have been working at the refinery at the time of the explosion, and all of the employees there have been evacuated. The official also stated crude oil comes in on 18-wheelers and primarily jet and diesel fuel goes out. It is not known what was in the truck that exploded.

The manager at the Brooks Village Apartments and Townhomes reportedly went door to door to ask residents to evacuate. Others in the nearby area have reportedly also been asked to leave the area since it is not yet known if it is safe to breathe the smoke-filled air.

Police have closed SE Military Drive between Roosevelt and South New Braunfels.

Early this morning, oil and gas prices were down. $79/ bbl for oil and $2.22 for gasoline (wholesale). I doubt that they're still at that levels now. I'm beginning to think that there's some conspiracy going on just to keep the oil prices up.

Retail gas prices here jumped $0.17 this morning........

When I headed home this morning, gas had dropped a cent from last night. I don't have any idea how it looks now though. Not sure I want to know.

Don't know when they raised the gas price at the 3 stations up the road from us, but they were all 10cents higher this afternoon, than they were on Monday evening.   :(

I notice oil prices dropped despite the oil spill in the Gulf. I would think it would go up.

Funny, as in odd, thing. This morning, oil prices were at $83+ per bbl and gasoline prices were at $2.25/gal wholesale. I, too, expected oil prices to skyrocket with this oil spill, but they actually went down. I DID hear one news report that said that the rig that burned was responsible for less than 1% of the oil we get from the Gulf.

Well, they typically go up in the summer anyway.....I doubt the rig has anything to do with it.  Makes sense....people are traveling closer to home, to save money, jack up the gas prices, and someone is making it somewhere.

A week ago or so gas was $2.67, now it's up to $2.97.  We'll have another jump right before Memorial Day.

True, but it seems like the price always jumps  ten cents or  so on Wednesday or Thursday before a holiday weekend.
