Hi,

I gave a good friend a ride home tonight from a meeting.  He is well connected with the military and , ummm, let's just say other covert agencies of the government.

He tells me that BO made all the members of the joint chiefs of staff sign secrecy agreements last week which basically went unreported by the press.  I asked my friend what that meant.

He explained that basically you agree that whatever is discussed in those meeting will not be divulged for a period of time (he said he had to sign one and it expired five years after he left the organization) or you can basically be detained pending investigation......meaning you go to jail without trial or any charges being filed other than you breached the secrecy agreement.

He then went on to say, "Suppose Obama decides he wants the Navy to reduce the number of aircraft carriers by two, basically take two out of service.  BO can then say to the press that the CNO recommended it and he is following his recommendation.  Now that could be (and likely would be) a flat out lie but the CNO cannot say that because he could be thrown in jail if he did."

My guess is we are going to see some wierd shit coming down the pike with BO saying he is following the recommendation of the military commanders and they will be declining comment.  Then , after he is out of office and the required time period elapses there will be a series of tell all books coming out that the libs will totally deny and attack the author.

Just some more scary shit if you ask me!

I don't understand why they would have to sign anything. All he has to do is declare it a secret or top secret meeting and it would be classified and couldn't be divulged until after it was "cleansed" or after a period of years. Trust me, anyone in that high of a level would already have a clearance.

Seems like your friend was stating something he heard from his friend, who heard from his friend, who heard from his cousin's uncle's nephew's 2nd-best friend.

I am not shocked at all to read this.

Obama's claims of transparency are bullshit.

I knew this before he was elected.

I have to ask..  Why did this friend share this with you?  Did that agreement he signed NOT include a prohibition against dicussing it?  That's the way it usually works.

Makes sense to me really because the 0 is not that bright.  They would keep mum over classified matters as thats treason but they know how to use the press effectively for this.

if he goes on the news (OK, Fox News) with a copy of the "agreement" and a refutation of the carrier story, there will be no locking up because the others Joint Chiefs will probably pipe up too.

Hi Folks,

My friend is retired but what he tells me comes from first hand information.  Why did he share it with me?  Because we were discussing just how scary BO is and how he is putting this country in danger.  My friends agreement expired so he is cool.  At the same time you can imagine that demanding all members of the joint chiefs of staff to sign agreements like I outlined would quickly make it through, ummmm, several government agencies.

You can choose to believe it or not.  Knowing my friend as I do, and not trusting BO at all, I have no doubt what I was told was spot on.....

Hi,

I wish that were true.  If Bush were president you likely are correct.  At the same time have you ever known anyone who did ummm "unique missions for the government and carried cyanide on their person during those missions?"  There is so much more going on in the background that the public is not aware of it is truly amazing.  I am not going to elaborate beyond saying that it is highly unlikely that any member of the joint chiefs of staff would ever want to take that risk.

Generally everyone does have to sign nondisclosure agreements in organizatons that deal with sensitive compartmented information, it is not common to do new ones when the administration changes though.  I've never heard of anyone actually being detained based on one, though of course you can get in a shitload of trouble for violating one.

As far as that example of the CNO and the carriers is concerned, all the officers old enough to be at that level have enough years in to retire anytime they can't get on board the President's bandwagon, which would speak out loud to everyone in the military without divulging a thing.

Now as far as the part about 'we're going to see some weird shit' goes, oh Hell yes we are.

This secrecy agreement:

Pentagon Officials Sign Pledges of Secrecy in Budget Process
Pentagon officials working on the military's budget picture have pledged not to talk about the process, a spokesman said Wednesday.

The Pentagon said Wednesday that top military officers and civilians had to sign a letter promising to keep details secret as they work on the military's budget.

Defense Department press secretary Geoff Morrell told reporters that Secretary Robert Gates made the unusual request out of concern for national security. He said the department didn't want any leaks to "unravel" the budget process.

"This is highly sensitive stuff involving programs costing tens of billions of dollars, employing hundreds of thousands of people and go to the heart of national security," he said. "And so he wants this process to be as disciplined and as forthright as possible.

"And he thinks that by having people pledge not to speak out of school, if you will, on these matters while they are a work in progress, that you'll create a climate in which you can ultimately produce a better product, because people can speak candidly with the confidence that it will not be leaked," he said.

Gates remained as secretary under Obama after serving under President Bush, but this year is the first time he is requiring the non-disclosure statements.

The entire Joint Chiefs of Staff signed on, promising not to leak information while the budget is being put together. Morrell said Gates also signed it.

The agreement, a copy of which was obtained by FOX News, commits those signing it not to divulge "budget-related information" including planning, programming and other aspects.

This is just my guess here, but I think we're seeing some of the personality and character flaws of Teh Obamessiah shining through here.

He isn't really all that familiar with the tools of governance, and so the Rookie doesn't trust them, especially when the last 8 years have seen the Washington (com)Post and the New York Slimes publishing state secrets for their al Qaeda masters as regular as clockwork.

So how does Teh One circumvent being hamstrung by this?  By reverting back to his street thug, ambulance chaser roots.  Get it in writing, and nail 'em to the wall with it.

Teh Rookie is sooooooo in over his head, and we are soooooo assuredly ****ed.

A non-disclosure contract sounds like something a lawyer and a community activist would dream up.  When have the secrecy of Pentagon projects been an issue when discussing the budget?  I've been on this earth for 34 years and have never heard of such a thing.

Maybe Barry didn't get his Top Secret clearance after all.

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

It's very easy to get around such agreements. Anyone can be an anonymous tipster these days.

This secrecy agreement:

Thank you Miss Mia.  It looks like Gates is protecting the Pentagon from the Obama Administration.    Smart move.
