Forum's "Reputation" System
« on: August 02, 2021, 02:58:21 PM »
Just curious as to how this works...  I notice I already have a -1  :naughty:  (I was expecting it to be much lower than that by now... LOL!!)

But I don't see anywhere that I can give out reputation "points" to anyone else.  I am assuming that changes once I hit a certain rank?

Thank you in advance.
The pendulum must eventually swing the other way.  We have been pushed so far to the left, that when the breaking point arrives, we will swing harder and faster to the right than ever before.  It's only a matter of time.  It's unavoidable. It's just simple physics.

Hi!

Under each person's reputation +/-, there are clickable options that say "Hi-Five" and "Bitch-Slap". You can only see these options if you're logged in. I don't know if you have to hit a certain rank first, but that seems likely.

If someone is concerned about likes or bitch-slaps on an otherwise friendly forum, perhaps it is the wrong place to be hanging around.  Honestly never look at mine and think it is a silly social construct.  IIRC, the V-Bulletin software program that runs this place has the +/- as a default.

Joined a message board this spring completely unrelated to politics on a forum with a similar "ranking" system, and quickly learned that it is akin to fraternity/sorority hazing to get the bitch slaps early on.  Still have far more negatives yet people still appreciate the contributions that I make.

My advice to our new Massachusetts member: Make interesting posts that our little rag-tag group of conservatives interested in, and your + thing will increase.  Whining about it will only make it plummet.

Yeah, I'm really not concerned with it. I was just wondering how it worked. For all I know, if I got a thousand points I get free ammo per something.

That's kinda why I asked.

It's not in his job description. Bitchslapped for failure to know what Dutch's job is, especially with your high post count.

Hmmm?  Do tell!

I don't happen to have a high post count darlin' man ...

But I, also, have no idea just what the dickens his job is in here.  Self-appointed-Grand Poobah, or what?  >most-enjoyable-evil-grin<

Last time I checked (and it's been a while), Dutch's job description is:
  • Describing the aftereffects of encountering more than 3 DUmmies in a single afternoon (it can be hazardous to one's health)
  • Licking postage stamps for all CCers who are mailing love letters to Nancy Pelosi
  • Teaching basket-weaving for shut-ins
  • Going the wrong direction on escalators (it keeps him in shape)
  • Brushing his teeth using a toothbrush that he once used on his combat boots (it keeps him gritty)
  • Scowling into the camera when somebody takes his photo

Nothing there full-time about administering bitchslaps, though he's been known to do that on an ad hoc basis. He tends to exhibit a lot of initiative.

Pretty good list, really .
