OFFICIALS: Federal Prosecutor Investigating Visa Fraud in Wasserman Schultz’s District Shot Himself in Head – But NO GUN Was Found



A federal prosecutor’s body was discovered on a Hollywood, Florida beach on May 24.

He was shot in the head.

Beranton J. Whisenant, Jr.’s body was found in May by a random individual. The police were investigating at the time to determine if Whisenant’s death was a “homicide, suicide, or something else.”
Whisenant worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami in its major crimes unit. He was handling several visa and passport fraud cases in Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s district.

Now this…
Officials say Beranton’s death was a suicide and he shot himself in the head.
But no gun was ever found.

The Sun-Sentinel reported:

    Detectives and a medical examiner found Whisenant had shot himself in the head, Hollywood police said.

    Police searched for two blocks north and south of the crime scene but couldn’t find the gun or any other weapon.

    He was assigned to the Miami office of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and been hired as federal prosecutor a few months earlier.

H2BM's thread title is misleading, though Gateway Pundit's article title is correct on that point. However, "Shot Himself in Head," in Gateway Pundit's article title is incorrect, as their own article shows: 'The police were investigating at the time to determine if Whisenant’s death was a “homicide, suicide, or something else.”'.

I don't know if Gateway Pundit has gotten sloppy in composing article titles or if they've gone less than honest in being clickbaity, but they're losing me. If I find something interesting in one of their articles I'm going to go to the underlying news article (or Duck-Duck-Go it) just to be sure something hasn't been hyped or omitted.

Man found dead on Hollywood Beach was Assistant U.S. Attorney

Hollywood police have identified the man found dead Wednesday morning near the beach as Beranton Whisenant, an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.

UPDATE! Beranton Whisenant RULED SUICIDE!

The florida police department and investigators ruled Federal Prosecutor Beranton Whisnant Jr a suicide today. He was discovered on a beach in Florida on May 24th 2017. "Head Trauma" was the only information given. 3 months later, the medical examiner and the investigators claim he committed suicide by gunshot. No further information was given.

Beranton was investigating major crimes in passport/visa/immigration fraud cases which so happened to be in Debbie Wasserman Schultz's district.

Mysterious death of federal prosecutor on Hollywood beach ruled a suicide

The death of a federal prosecutor whose body washed up on a Hollywood beach more than two months ago with a gunshot wound to the head has been ruled a suicide, the Hollywood Police Department said Thursday.

Beranton J. Whisenant Jr., 37, had just started a new job in the Miami office of the U.S. attorney in January when his body was found floating in the surf on May 24. His death stunned family members, friends and colleagues who had remembered him as a passionate man dedicated to his legal work and public service.

Hollywood police said detectives and the Broward medical examiner determined Whisenant “died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound” before his body was discovered just south of Magnolia Terrace on Hollywood beach.

Obviously there's something odd about this case, but not finding a gun near his body is explained by "his body was found floating in the surf". His body could have drifted hundreds of yards or even miles from the gun.

What is odd - but may have a reasonable explanation - is this, "the Broward medical examiner determined Whisenant “died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound” before his body was discovered just south of Magnolia Terrace on Hollywood beach." One possibility is that the police had a report/statement from a witness but have withheld the identity of the witness.
