Well I'm sure we have sold enough Harpoons and Torpedoes to make any attempt by Iran a re due of Midway.

Sure way to lose a fight is wait until the other guy hits you first! Not many men can stand up under a strategically planted first punch, ( usually right above the left eye ). Once you're knees fold, you're toast!

If Idiot Iran gets within a firing solution, blow 'em to bits! **** what the hell armchair quarterbacks think or do!

That's the only way I know how to fight. All this *****-footing around is going to get you killed. Just ask the South Koreans.

Iran has helicopters and some fighters. Last I heard is that Iran's Aviation component was sorely lacking because most of their aircraft were US made. Since the US is no longer exporting aircraft parts to Iran, they can't get the parts needed to maintain their aircraft. Back in 1975-76, during my US Naval Aviation training, we had military folks from Iraq, Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia attending the Naval Aviation Maintenance schools. The Iranians were ALWAYS problematic, even then. If any foreign Sailor caused any problems on the base, it was 99% of the time an Iranian.

Iran's air and land forces are totally irrelevant to anything that happens in the Med.

In general, I'd agree with you. However, were Turkey to allow them to use their country to fly over or mobilize through, they could become an irritant.

Turkey will let them in, I'm sure, but only a contingent, not actual armed forces units or heavy weapons.  The Turks have their own agenda but it doesn't include letting crazy people with heavy weapons loose in something they're sponsoring and whose actions will reflect directly on the Turks without the Turks being in full control of them.

They have Cobra helicopters, probably got them at the same time they got the F-14's. At least one of them can still fly as was seen by the media recently.
