Netflix recently released the movie "Cuties" which, if you are unfamiliar, has 11 year old actresses, twerking and performing highly sexualized dances. It caused an immediate outrage pan-political on social media, but then some on the Left decided they didn't like their tactics being used by anyone who wasn't them. So, they labeled all of the outrage as being right wing.

Soon enough it became RW as some on the Left feared the label and went quiet; as many in the center threw up their hands and said "**** it! I guess I'm RW because this shit cannot be allowed to go on."

So, now, some on the Left have decided to go all-in to draw an even bigger distinction between themselves and the Right.

The controversial Netflix film “Cuties” is “despicable,” Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., told Fox News on Sunday, adding that "Netflix should be penalized" for featuring the film, which he says sexualizes children.

The film is centered on an 11-year-old Senegalese immigrant living in Paris who ends up joining a clique of girls who call themselves the “Cuties” – and perform highly provocative and eroticized dance numbers while scantily clad – as a way of rebelling against her conservative Muslim parents.

“We've gone from our culture being sexualized, to sexualizing children,” Banks told “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Sunday. “That’s what is disgusting about this and that’s why so many Americans are outraged by this movie being so readily available to our kids.”

It is a French movie called Cuties.

On Friday, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz called on the Justice Department to investigate Netflix and the "Cuties" filmmakers to determine whether they broke any federal laws against the production and distribution of child pornography.

The Republican senator and a growing list of federal lawmakers, including Banks, are appalled that Netflix is streaming the film -- claiming the comedy-drama sexualizes young children and appeals to pedophiles.

“The film routinely fetishizes and sexualizes these pre-adolescent girls as they perform dances simulating sexual conduct in revealing clothing, including at least one scene with partial child nudity," Cruz wrote in a letter to Attorney General Bill Barr Friday.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) says Netflix is complicit in child sex trafficking as the distributor of French award-winning film, "Cuties."

The streaming giant is under fire after releasing the film, which many say is nothing short of pedophilia.

In a statement to TheBlaze, a Netflix spokesperson said that people who care about stomping out child sexualization should watch the film.

"Cuties is a social commentary against the sexualization of young children," the spokesperson told TheBlaze on Friday. "It's an award winning film and a powerful story about the pressure young girls face on social media and from society more generally growing up — and we'd encourage anyone who cares about these important issues to watch the movie."

Tulsi Gabbard has spoken out along with Jim Banks and Ted Cruz.

Gabbard — former Democratic presidential candidate and combat veteran — writes, "[C]hild porn 'Cuties' will certainly whet the appetite of pedophiles & help fuel the child sex trafficking trade. 1 in 4 victims of trafficking are children. It happened to my friend's 13 year old daughter. Netflix, you are now complicit."

Gabbard closed the tweet with the now-viral hashtag, #CancelNetflix.

Her tweet, less than 12 hours old at the time of this reporting, has received more than 121,000 likes.

Elsewhere in the lengthy thread, Gabbard said that she put her money where her mouth is and cancelled Netflix.

Has Tulsi Gabbard seen Cuties? I’m assuming that she has, considering how she said that the film, released this past week on Netflix, is nothing more than “child porn” sure to “fuel the child sex-trafficking trade.” Seems like a pretty wild thing to accuse a movie of being slash doing if you haven’t even seen it.

In case you’re not familiar, Cuties is a French coming-of-age drama directed and written by filmmaker Maïmouna Doucouré about a Senegalese immigrant girl in Paris who joins a twerking dance team made up of other girls in her neighborhood. In an interview with Shadow & Act deputy editor Trey Mangum, Doucouré explained that her film is “very much about the hypersexualization and objectification of young girls.” Most critics who have seen Cuties, which won an award at Sundance earlier this year, seem to agree, calling it a good, if not always subtle, examination of how girls navigate a society that sexualizes them from a young age.

Since August, however, the feature has received a lot of criticism for allegedly sexualizing its young stars. A lot of the backlash probably has to do with the truly shitty marketing materials cooked up by Netflix for the film’s stateside release, The Verge reports, including a poster that shows the dance team members posing seductively in skimpy performance outfits—a visual that, within the context of the film, is supposed to make the viewer uncomfortable, Variety critic Amy Nicholson noted in her review.

Anyway, the Cuties backlash, which has fed into preexisting conspiracy theories peddled by fringe group QAnon about how Hollywood is secretly a pedophile ring, has ballooned, sucking in opponents from all sides of the political spectrum. They now count Hawaii congresswoman and former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard in their numbers, who blasted Doucouré’s film on Twitter this weekend.

Where were all these outraged QAnon people when Trump ordered kids to be separated from their parents and put in cages in the concentration camps on the border?  I guarantee that some of those kids are being sexually abused.  I don’t recall any big “Q” signs at the Families Belong Together protest I went to.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed legislation changing the state’s sex offender law to allow judges to have a say on whether to list someone as a sex offender for having oral or anal sex with a minor.

The bill expands discretion already granted to judges to decide if a man should be on California’s sex offender registry, but the existing discretion had applied only to a man who had vaginal intercourse, The Associated Press reported.

The legislation Newsom signed Friday permits judges to use the same discretion when the case involves voluntary oral or anal sex.
