With the recent conversations about Spitzer and Stabenow's husband, I thought it might be interesting to pose this question here on DU. I believe that prostitution will eventually be decriminalized in many places, but in order for that to happen, we have to be willing to talk openly about it.I have both paid for and been paid for intimate time spent with another person, and I have no regrets about it. Anyone else?

I personally see nothing wrong with it I can't say that I've been paid for it, but I have been known to drop a few bucks here and there. As George Carlin says, ****ing is legal, and selling is legal - so why isn't selling ****ing legal? Sex is the ONLY legal service which is illegal to exchange money for. I can understand not wanting to have streetwalkers loitering in front of businesses, and I don't mind having prostitution regulated - ie regular testing, etc. But what two consenting adults do in private should be nobody's business - let alone the governments.

I think that gay male sex also excludes you from donating As far as I know, if you're a man who's had sex with just one other man since 1977, you're not allowed to donate blood. But if you've had sex with 10,000 women, donating blood is no problemo.

I'm don't know that I would trust that lawyer's advice given his grasp on ethics.
