3. You bet! Only one slight problem..

I now live in California.

I am from around Houston, as well.

And my ancestors settled in what is now E Texas (Angelina County) in 1630.

28. Thanks, txindy. I have been hunting with Legget. Great guy.

I am an original Texan (family in what is now Angelina County since 1630) and it is always good to see something positive on DU from our much-maligned home.

6. Oh, I'm for real, all right.

One of my Father's friends blew up the Longview, Texas school bus yard the night before the first day of mandated integration of the Longview School District. Destroyed every bus in the yard.

I won't even tell you what my barber did.

My Great-Grandfather was the Sheriff of Angelina County, Texas for quite some time. He used to brag that any (substitute N-word, here) who was charged with a robbery or sexual assault against a White Person would never go to trial in his County.

He would just take 'em out into the Angelina Forest and come back alone.

I could tell at least a dozen more stories such as that one. Growing up in ultra-rural SE Texas will do that, you know.

My family comes from a clan of four families who settled in what is now Angelina County in 1630.

Yep, we were in Texas before the Mayflower landed.

The first Anglo families south of the Red and west of the Sabine.

We still have two of our original Grants.

I am the only person in my huge family (going back to second cousins, anyway) who lives outside of the State.

And I really miss it. Every day.

13. My two favorite states..

My family crossed the Sabine River in 1630 to settle in what is now Angelina County.

They left behind family in present-day Jennings, Houma, Vinton, etc. .

Even tho I am most recently from Dallas, the upper Texas coast owns my heart.

But I did not spend 27 months in combat (SE Asia) to enable our government to outsource basically everything.

I do not enjoy losing. Losing anything.

6. This day is always special to me. My family was the first Anglo...

family of record in what is now known as Texas. Settling in present-day Angelina County in 1630, our folks witnessed every development (good and bad) from then to the present. I am the only member of my extended family who doesn't reside within the borders of the Greatest State in the Union.

But I can feel the tug of the land every time the airplane crosses the Red River.

!Viva Tejas!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=180x27414

So, sifting through the detrius of a clearly deranged mind, the result is That Tom claimes he comes from a family (apparantly one of four "anglo" families that can lay the claim to being "first" across the river) that has been in Angelina County, TX since circa 1630, after having crossed the Sabine River and leaving behind familym members in other places. Emphasis is given to the supposed size of this family. They still own two of the original land grants from for the region. It appears that a distant relative was the sherrif Angelina County at some time.

A big Happy Birthday to a great DUer: TomInTib!

Since Tom eschews The Lounge, we need to have a big party for him here in GD. What say?

Happy Birthday, Tom. Thanks for making it back to The World, and - ultimately - to DU. You are an asset here and to the cause. I love having another fighter on our team.

Cheers,
Mac

Tom apparently came into the world, on either Oct-12th or Oct-14th depending on which of the above you use. (year is presently undetermined).

As a kid growing up in rural Texas in a Southern Baptist environment, nearly every adult I knew was still fighting it.

Only no one was doing any shooting.

I grew up in a fundie, tho less crazy (Southern Baptist) environment.

But, at about the age of 7 or 8, I realized it was all a bunch of malarkey.

At age 7 or 8 he'd dismissed all that as malarkey. My what a precocious child.

I can spot an immigrant from a mile away.

Just the same as I can pick out any junkie in a crowd, being a fellow (long-time) heroin addict.

You should know what I mean.

And has been able to use his growing up "along the border" to be able to spot a Illegal Migrant from a mile away , presumably with some form of super secret CitizoSnoopa Binoculars (now with 10X zoom).

I first smoke opium in Mexico in 1962 (I was twelve years old).

My life was changed.

I didn't smoke pot until three years later, while trying to tamp down a brain gone spikey due to a drowning incident that I managed to get myself into.

Drowning - The Ultimate Gateway Drug

At least, that's my excuse.

I spent my youth on a ranch and was never able to go to any kind of school.

And then I drowned and took a few years to relearn to do everything.

And then I went wild.

Ended up in some crazy places.

And now we meet here.

Great work LCEFA and a H5.  On the other thread one of his posts was about him being recalled to special forces any time up to the age of 62 which he said would be 2012, so that ties in with this reference, so likely born in 1950.

Math glitch -- if he smoked mj in 1962 and was 12, that makes his birth year 1950.

Follow it on both FR and search for Flippy Doo's (very funny) threads here.  I assume TOS has lost all its history (Flippy Doo has several there before we came into existence).

Sooner or later, we'll get these all in a nice compact package, one or two threads, or three or four subject threads dealing with the lying titty primitive, as was done with DU for guests, which started out as separate threads, and then was consolidated into reasonable order.

But right now, people are still collecting the "ingredients."  It's sort of like when mamacags makes apple pie for her offspring, getting everything together on top of the kitchen counter first, and then mixing in.

I believe the lying titty primitive said he spent 8 years in the service, and got out in 1972.

That meant, as bijou pointed out, he joined in 1964.....when he was 14 years old.

Agreed, however, every date I seen him type in is 68/9-72. Now maybe he's saying he was in Vietnam during that time (27 months in combat). If that's the deal then he got out in 1976/77.

wonder when he found time for basic training in 1968, SEAL training, or 'pilot' training on a PBR?

There are a couple of problems with your story, TiT.

One is that the Mayflower landed in 1620-look it up.

Secondly, here is a little historical information for you. East Texas and what is now Angelina County wasnt even explored by Spanish missionaries until the 1690s. But here is the local geneaological society's information on early Anglo settlement (much more at this source):

Quote
The settlement by whites in the future Angelina County began before the Texas Revolutionqv of 1836. The first deed on record, dated May 10, 1801, conveyed 5½ leagues of land to Vincente Micheli from Surdo, chief of the Bedias Indians... The first Anglo settlers in the district were the Burris family, who in 1820 settled in the northern part of what is now Lufkin at a place then called Burris Prairie. Within a few years other families came from Alto and Nacogdoches, and from other states, to settle along the rivers. Mexican authorities made land grants in the area in 1834-35.

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txangeli/history.htm

So, perhaps your family really was amongst the early settlers, but your claims are off by, oh...about 200 years.

Angelina County, TX and the border counties of Texas are hundreds of miles apart. Another lie in the cap of feathers that TiT has created for himself.

It's just a start, but I've got work to start getting to so I can't take it much further at the moment.  I haven't yet included any DU references, but I plan on doing that with every one of his claims that I make note of.  Only reference links that work are once that don't go to DU.

Everyone start tacking on.

Edit:  Nevermind...  it somehow got deleted within minutes of it being posted.  Not sure if I hit something to do it, or Wiki decided it wasn't worth keeping.

Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

Edit:  Nevermind...  it somehow got deleted within minutes of it being posted.  Not sure if I hit something to do it, or Wiki decided it wasn't worth keeping.

This is too funny...

Thank you for starting this. I'm working on his "military" career but it's SO convoluted and being the (extraordinarily anal) research type that I am, I'm looking through some of the history/personal stories, etc. on the web to verify (as if)/contradict (more likely) his happy little Oliver "Rambo" Stone stories.

Cindie

try his ancestors coming to Texas in 1630. Thats not very danged likely.
