Title: 2008 York PA Custom Car Show
Post by: Uhhuh35 on July 12, 2008, 11:36:58 PM
My son and I went to York today for the annual car show there. It was hot and muggy but a good time was had by all. Here's a few pics:
First car we saw when we entered the complex was this flawless Camaro Super Stocker.

A beautiful 1963 Super Gas Corvette

More pics to follow!

The early Funny Cars were just regular cars that had the rear wheels moved forward, hence the name "Funny Car".

Here's a beautiful 1971 Pro Street Chevelle. I had a 1972 Chevelle back in my High School days, 1979-81.

The Fairlane is probably my all time favorite Ford. Can't remember if this one is a 1968 or 1969.

This is probably the nicest 1966 GTO you'll ever see.

An absolutely immaculate 1955 Chevy. Of the 1955, '56 and '57 Chevys,  I always thought the '55 looked the coolest!

Another nice, two-tone '55. Didn't Harrison Ford race a '55 Chevy in "American Graffiti" against John Milners' "Piss Yellow" '32 Ford? I think he did.

Blown 1941 Willys Coupe. You know the old saying: "Injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown!"  :-)

Wild, short wheel base, Hemi powered Fuel Altered.

Ultra clean 1967 Chevelle Super Sport.

The famous Sox and Martin Barracuda Stocker, forerunner of the NHRA Pro Stock division. This is a '68 I believe.

A 1972 Chevelle. If this car was painted 1977 Corvette Yellow, it would be indentical to the one I had in high school. Well, maybe not this nice!  :-)

The 1972 Chevelle has a speedometer that goes up to 120 mph. I remember racing another Chevelle on a stretch of highway near San Diego and watching as the needle went past the 120 mark! (sigh)

There were quite a few Camaros in attendance, these were just two of 'em.

If I ever build an early roadster I'd do it like this, "Lil John Buttera" style. Minimalist with no fenders and shaved door handles.

I'd probably go with a chopped hard top though.

My dads first brand new car was a 1965 Chevy Impala like this one. This has a 283 in it, my dads had a 396. I remember the seats were plastic covered, they dried out and cracked at the top of the rear bench seat. The seats also had these little metal diamond inserts that heated up in summer and burned your legs when you hopped in! I remember my sister accidentally slamming the door on my fingers once. Those are heavy ass doors, I was lucky I didn't lose my hand!
Going to the gas station was always a treat for me as a kid. Back then, the gas was a much higher octane and smelled wonderful! Nothing like gas of today that smells of rotten eggs and will give you an instant headache.

Those are awesome.  I want to take my little boy to a car show but I can never seem to find one when we can go to it.
