Libs tend to fail upwards.  Cankles, Abrams, and Robert Francis O'Rourke come to mind in recent times.  Heck, you could even add our illustrious VP Cacka-la, who dropped out of the Presidential race and magically became Vice President.  Because libs have to check off boxes of certain categories.
