Ravens release Ray Rice in wake of new video from elevator incident
The Baltimore Ravens announced Monday they have terminated the contract of running back Ray Rice.
Hours after video emerged of Rice punching his now-wife Janay Palmer in a hotel elevator, the Ravens announced the decision on the team's Twitter account.
Rice, who was given a two-game suspension by the NFL in July, was set to return to the team in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns. He is now free to join any team.

And now the NFL suspends him indefinitely.
If he'd merely killed her while driving drunk the most he'd have gotten was a 10 game suspension.
He should sue the league.

Adam Schefter did mention double jeopardy being a potential problem since they did already hand him down a punishment. He also mentioned that by this Friday, he could potentially be reinstated...

Thank Goodness Rice wasn't on my Fantasy Football team this year.
Last year I had Aaron Hernandez. :banghead:
-
He should have said, "I'm a mooseslime and my religion allows me to beat my wife" and that would have been the end of the story for the multicultural MSM.

Double jeopardy does not apply to penalties from businesses to employees.
It doesn't really apply to criminal cases by the government either, since they seem to find other charges or other jurisdictions to keep going after people at times.

By doing this to Rice on his first offense they have no choice but to hand down the same indefinite suspension to the two players busted last week for slapping their girlfriends around.

Roger Goodell press conference: Live blog
http://blog.sfgate.com/saracevic/2014/09/19/goodell-press-conference-live-blog/
combative. The questioning became more pointed, culminating with a TMZ sports journalist pointing out to Goodell that the Web site got the Ray Rice tape with one phone call.
Where was the NFL investigation on obtaining that tape? Goodell had no answer. And that, as much as anything, tells you that the NFL was soft on its stance on domestic violence. This has been going on in the league for years, particularly during Goodell’s eight-year term. There have been upwards of 56 domestic violence incidents in the league during that time. Goodell handed out a grand total of 13 game suspensions.
This press conference did not go well for Goodell and the NFL. The league remains defensive and not transparent.
Why blame Roger Goodell? They make it sound like he told Ray Rice to attack Janay Palmer. :mental:

Looks like black athletes and liberal doo-gooders are getting the tables turned on them regarding videos of players assaulting women and photos of child abuse. For many of them, it is hard to verbally attack another brother. However, when the tables are turned, such as the case of Sterling or the owner of the Colts there is no forgiveness or compassion in sight. Let''s just hang these whites out to dry is their motto. No second chance for them. No sir-ee. So much hypocrisy from the NFL, owners, coaches, players and fans. It is becoming winning at all costs

They can exchange it for another jersey. (Terrell Suggs, Joe Flacco, etc.)
