Quote
Awards season is in full swing in California, and the Golden State just took home a booby prize of its own.

California ranks dead last among U.S. states in quality of life, according to a study by U.S. News, ranking behind New Jersey (49th) and Indiana (48th).

The ignominious honor reflects California’s low marks in the sub-categories of environmental quality and social engagement. The latter category measures voting participation and community bonds.

California ranks bottom in quality of life. No surprise there.

Works  for me.  I can't imagine a place I'd less want to go, so little personal freedom, so much regulation, and insane taxes at every level.  Plus I'd be surrounded by idiots telling me how wonderful  it is and how awful everywhere else is.

Yup. I spent a few days doing an audit in San Diego once. Apart from the weather, which was pleasant enough, it reminded me of a 3rd world hellhole. I felt like a foreigner - probably because I was. I don't speak Spanish.
