Man, there's a lot of bonfires on Skins's island today, but the selection's pretty bland.

The mixed up primitive should've come over here, registered, and then asked franksolich the question, as no primitive seemed to know.

What is the opposite of cultural diffusion?

What is the term for how different cultures develop similar practices independent of each other? For example agriculture in the fertile crescent and agriculture in the Americas.

Thanks in advance.

1. found it

independent invention

You know, one of the primary characteristics of Skins's island is the phenomenon of "superfluous invention."

Every day, the primitives try to re-invent the wheel, having forgotten it's already been long ago invented.

Independent Invention is a good example of what is bogus about the Little Goons' complaint against the imaginary "rethug talking points".   All it is, really, is just common sense independently popping up when and where it is needed.
