Hi,
Being fairly new on the block, I need an explanation. Under my name when I post is the number of posts and currently something like +47 and -10. How does one get a plus and how does one get a minus?
Who is in charge of assigning the plusses and minuses and are they anything to be concerned about? I guess my real question is this. Is this coding subtly trying to cause folks to post in a certain manner or manipulate behavior???

It's a reputation system. The +'es and -'es are handed out by other members for whatever reason. They're limited to one per hour (per member).
I've managed to say enough stupid shit on this board to earn -78 of them from various people. Some of them are nice enough to own up to it. :-)

Once you get a negative 15 you are banned ... for life, unless you are an administrator like chris. Then it is a negative 80.

How does one hand them out? Reason I ask is this. I told one member tonght that I disagreed with them and I noticed my minus count went up two points. Screw that, if they are gonna give me a minus, I disagree with them, I want to give them one too....... I am saying that with a smile on my face, no hard feelings at all.
On the positive side, there are some cool things I would love to have handed out some +'s had I known how to do it.
As far as feeling when you get a minus it is because you said stupid shit.....Chris I disagree (guess I just got another minus). What I mean is this. Who is to say what is right or wrong, opinions are just that. While someone may disagree with you, does not mean you are stupid, nor are they. On some other boards, there are folks that anyone who does not agree with this or that poster is a dumbass and they are very caustic and scarcastic with each other. I like this forum because everyone seems to be respectful of one another. I would be more inclined to award a minus if someone put me down, or put down another poster for their opinion.....rather than just offer a different point of view.

Look right below the numbers on each members posts .... over on your left. You will see "bitch slaps" and "high fives" ... those are links. Just click them.
if you want to practice just reach over there and click on the high five link below my numbers and watch what happens! :-)

I must have pissed somebody off because even on days I don't post I am getting slapped around. I almost doubled my minuses since I started this thread and my computer was down for a day and we were without power for another day.......geesh!

I find that most of the time I'm getting a bs it's when I'm in a heated debate and usually know who it came from. Sometimes they are anonymous though.
